Good luck, Pam's a pretty good Prof.

This professor is the most UNPROFESSIONAL instructor I have encountered at CSU. Her understanding of the material is skewed by her own opinions and her grading is horribly subjective. Our class roster began with 40 students and ended with 14. Many Withdrew. (I refused to quit). Choose any other professor and or wait before taking this course until she is replaced. I'm normally an A/B student. Textbook doesn't help on exams...she's incredibly sloppy in course preparation, and condescending toward students. She truly believes she is above us and isn't afraid to say so openly. And, she hates Bush, which she makes clear during every lecture, no matter what we're supposed to be talking about. Lousy experience.

Dr. Duncan is a good professor. I took American Government and Politics with her. The class itself is easy. The tests are easy but rely heavily on the class readings so you really need to read the text book. She knows the material well and effectively communicates the needed information. When questions are asked she generally gives a clear answer, however, I have heard her say "wow that's a good question...ummmmm I really don't know the answer" one too many times. The only other issue I have is that she sometimes lets her bias get the best of her and you can easily pick up on the fact that she leans on the liberal side of politics. Overall, a good teacher whose class is easy and nice as a gen ed.

Duncan is amazing. She couldn't make the material any clearer and is always open to discussion and questions. She's clearly biased to the left, but she tries hard not to be, and is extremely knowledgeable. American Government is my least favorite Polisci topic, but she made it interesting enough that I didn't have to hate being in class. Her grading policies are fair, her exams are reasonable, and the papers were somewhat challenging. She's also a very nice person. I would recommend her, especially for non-majors getting a core requirement out of the way.

I absolutely loved my class with Duncan for POLS 101. She presented a fair grading policy at the beginning of the semester, and told you that if you came to class there was no need to have the book. She is sarcastic, which made the class interesting, and her exams included free points (one question on the final was how to spell bureaucracy.. with 4 answers, and the word spelled correctly in the question). I enjoyed taking a class with a woman who knows what she is taking about, and this made me like picking Pols for my major even more.

Pamela Duncan is by far the worst teacher I have ever had...not at CSU but EVER!!! She is very unclear on what you need to know for her tests. Her lectures are easy to fall asleep to and she talks down to students as if you are the world's worst. PLEASE never ever take any course with her. She is terrible!

if you're looking for a big bs class that will guarantee an a or at least a b, this class is for you. She presents the most obvious, substance-void material that you could think of and every other answer on the exams is all or non of the above. Then in lecture, when questions were poised, she'd either beat around the bush (pun intended), say she'll "get back to you on that" or flat out say "I DON"T KNOW". Now, I know professors, or in this case, DOCTOR, can't know everything, but this was a common occurence day after day after day...Rule of thumb: obsessive blinking = obsessive lying. It got old fast. She also seemed to stray away from the course title, CURRENT world problems, which was one of the main reasons I signed up for the course. I was expecting some background while spending the majority of the time discussing CURRENT problems. But I'd say 97% of the time was devoted to past terms, events, etc, while darfur, 11 Spetember, etc was mentioned sparsly.

I would highly recommend never, ever, ever taking a class from Dr. Duncan. She seems ill informed, can rarely answer a question, and has stated things incorrectly several times. She does not teach a Current World Problems class. She teaches right of the book about theories and ideas ON Current World Problems. Maybe 4-5 days out of the entire semester were spent discussing things actually relevant to what we see in the news. All of that being said, this is not a difficult class if you take notes and read the book/readings. If you want to take a Current World Problems class, take it from someone else. Or better yet, study abroad and have some fun!!

Duncan was a phenomenal teacher. The majority of the information learned in this class was extremely dry, but she was able to keep the class engaged and actively participating. She is also one of the few political science professors that I have had that was able to have a discussion without it being dominated to one side of the political spectrum. She was more than willing and helpful to anyone who asked for help, and offered several forms of extra credit or any extra and possible help.

She may be a 'softy' in the classroom, but...Single worst Distance Learning instructor I have had at CSU. Complaint filed with Dean. AVOID if possible. Rude, subjective in grading and, what can I say, I regret taking this course. When CSU reviews its staffing needs for the following term, CUT this professor. I learned nothing from her. Process was merely aggravating.Got As on all Upper Division courses. This professor needs her tenured world rocked by a pink slip.

Dr. Duncan is a very good teacher. In her class she does mainly lecture about the book and states what the authors say. However, if you ever talk to her outside of class you will find she is a very knowledgeable teacher and more than willing to help with any problems you are having in the class. Her tests are straightforward, she provides study guides and does review days. If you go to class, read the book and take notes you should get an easy A.

Environmental Politics- Very interesting class. She gives good study guides and only grades a portion of your best answers. There is a 12 page research paper to write but she gives you the assignment at the beginning of the semester and it's due more than midway through the semester. She is liberal but makes sure to give everyone a voice. Very friendly teacher. I would defintely take this class!

Professor Duncan really knows what she's talking about. Her lectures are very organized and she tends to appreciate class discussions, which is a relief. There is a bit of reading in the class, and if you intend on getting an A just because it's a 101 class...think again. Her tests are difficult, and they really test you on the material, so study hard and read the book!

Duncan was a pretty good teacher. She's just openly liberal, which tends to piss people off. Her tests were easy & she offers lots of extra credit to everyone. She grades the two papers kind of tough though. She pretty much taught straight from the book and didn't seem like she knew the answers to very many questions

Smart woman, material presented clearly. Class was only a bit hard because no curves, no drops, papers graded strictly, and tests where hard. The questions are not tricky, very simply laid out. About 50% from book, 50% from lecture. If you don't read the book, you're screwed on the exam.
