Exploring Earth: Physical Geology (GT-SC2)

Sven is AMAZING!I have never had a teacher more in-tune with their students in my entire education. He has some of the best examples and teaching skills on the books. Geology can be hard to get through at 9am but Sven made it easy to get up and come to class. He cracks jokes daily and truly cares about teaching. Science is a required subject for everyone so do yourself a favor and make it a good experience! Go Sven.

Stratigraphy and Sedimentology

Sven is a great teacher and a great guy. He is extremely knowledgeable about sedimentology and will always answer any and all questions in depth until the topic is understood. He is not a difficult professor, he doesn't waste your time with busy work or useless memorization. On another note his classes are quite enjoyable and did not put me to sleep. He is a really nice, approachable and funny guy definitely one of the coolest profs in the geosciences department.

By far the best class I have taken. I even miss that class. I liked geology already but he really made me love it. I didn't mind going to his class because I knew he would make it interesting. He has a way of making hilarious, but subtle jokes. And I really enjoyed listening to his accent. I wanted to switch my major just to potentially have more classes with him as my teacher. If you can, take this class.

Geology of Natural Resources (GT-SC2)

Pros: This class is easy. He posts all of his lectures online so as long as you study those for the tests you are set. I barely go to class and I am doing fine.
Cons: The lecture can be boring, especially early in the morning. Lecture feels like a waste of time to go to because he posts his PowerPoint slides online
I would reccommend this geology class over any other one.

Pros: at first i didnt care for him but i definitely judged to fast. he actually ended up being a pretty cool professor, pretty knowledgeable about his subject. pretty chill guy, not uptight at all, id definitely take another one of his classes

Sven was a great teacher, he was able to make a rather dry class and make it okay. Geology is not my thing, I am a history major, but Sven almost made me think about changing my major, he is funny and has creative "experiments." His accent does make it a little hard to understand if you're not fluent in english but overall great professor, I'd take another class with him.
