Contemporary Sociological Theory

Lori Peek is by far the best professor at CSU. She is incredibly intelligent and presents the information well. It is hard to explain her because she has so many great qualities. The class went by so fast just listening to her lecture. Not once did I ever look at my clock or become bored in the class. She does creative activities to help you learn the material better, so it isn't just lecture. She is extremely nice and easy to talk to. If you study for the tests they are no problem. She does take attendance, but class is so much fun you won't want to miss it. You can really tell she loves teaching and she loves her work. It would be a shame if you missed out on one of Lori's classes.

Lori is one of the most caring professors I have ever met. She loves her students and she wants the best for them. Her class can be challenging at times, keep up with the reading, go to class, listen to what she's saying. She's a great person, a great professor, and you will never ever regret taking this class with her.

Lori Peek is by far the best teacher i've had at CSU. Actually, she is the best teacher you can have a class with at CSU. She knows exactly what she's talking about, she is very enthusiastic about the subject, and very passionate and open to many of the questions students have. She actually cares about what you have to say, and loves hearing feedback from students. She is very energetic, and her classes go by extremely fast. I enjoyed being in her class, made learning a lot more fun and easy. I highly recommend anyone to take her courses.

Lori Peek is the most amazing professor I've had so far at CSU. I am a Sociology major and she made me love my major even more and now I start to look for other classes in my major that she teaches so I can take classes with her. She was clear in her expectations and was passionate about the class which made me excited to go to class. I highly recomend if you have the chance to take a class with her!

Pros: Lori knows what she's talking about! She is always very well prepared for class and she explains the material with clarity and enthusiasm. She is, by far, my favorite instructor at CSU!
Cons: None! I have no complaints about Lori or the class.
Race and ethnicity is a subject that every student should learn about. Lori is a great speaker, knows how to get class discussions going, and grades fairly. She is open and honest about everything and encourages her students to be. Lori seemed to be a role model for many of her students, regardless of their academic interests.

I strongly encourage every student to take one (or all!) of her classes.

Pros: Knows what she's talking about.

Enthusiastic.

Gets to know her students.

A lot of extra credit

Cons: Daily question, so daily participation points (but this really isn't a con because you WANT to go to class)
Lori is an AMAZING x103498397 teacher! As a senior, I've seen a fair share of poor, or mediocre teachers, Lori is neither. She has a passion for teaching sociology, and a passion for knowing her students. Not once, did I ever feel like she was communicating in a one-way manner, it was always an open forum in her class-- even with 120 students. She also got to know each and everyone of our names, and normally a little blurb about us. She is very passionate about what she teaches, as she had to hold back tears, on numerous occasions, about unequal situations.

There is one large group project, so choose your classmates wisely, and a 6/7 page essay where you write about your life and how race has affected it.

If you haven't signed up for her class, do it. It'll be the best you've ever had at CSU.

hands down the best teacher ive ever had, also the best course ive taken. i learned so much in this class and sincerely learned alot. i actually looked forward to going to this class. as far as the course work goes, she has 3 exams, 1 paper, and 1 project. She gives you in-depth study guides for each exam, theyre kind of long but as long as you take the time to do and study them you should be fine. and as long as you go to class and take notes, the study guide isnt too bad. the project takes a bit of work, but you practically have the entire semester to work on it with you and your group. the paper is kind of annoying, but not that bad. theres reading assignments due for each class and they can be tedious, but theyre completely relevant to the course. lori is so sweet and an amazing teacher. i absolutely recommend taking this course whether its required for your major or not.

Pros: Lori is one of the best professors I've had at CSU thus far. She isn't the best because her class is easy, its actually pretty difficult, but she's the best because she makes college seem worth the money. I'm amazed that she memorizes everyone's names within the first month or so, she is really passionate about teaching. Even more so, she is passionate and extremely knowledgeable of the subject, earning not only her student's respect, but their interest as well.
Cons: The readings can get a bit tedious because you have to do them every night before class, its easy to get behind when you have other classes that give homework. The exams are based primarily on the readings, but also in class activities, so you have to go to class. She and her TA's do not grade easy, you have to work really hard to give them what they want.

Lori Peek is really an amazing teacher. Like many others have said, she is VERY energetic which is often mistaken for "ditzy" or "weird" but she is actually very fun. You can see her passion for teaching and helping students succeed. She is great because she is very personable and genuinely wants to get to know all of her students. There were about 50 students in my class and she learned all of our names in the 1st week (which is only 2 days). Her tests are somewhat hard but fair. Everything is fair game for the class including movies, notes, student presentations, class discussions etc...She makes this class so fun and so easy to understand the material, class goes by very fast. I highly recomment taking her class, you won't regret it!
