You will get a TA for your CHEM104 lab and from what I hear all of them are really chill and if you simply go to lab and do all of the stuff you will get good grades (my TA Nicole Forseth was definitely like this). with no safety penalties for the semester the cut off for a grade is actually 3 percent lower for each grade (like a 87% for an A for example). They also drop your lowest lab grade. If you go, put some effort into it and do every part of the lab (pre lab, lab report and post labe questions) then there is no reason not to get a fairly easy A to get your lab component of AUCC done. We were never in there for the full 2 hours and fifty minutes (maybe an hour and 30 minutes on average).
Pros:
really easy
some of the experiments are actually pretty cool
easy lab credit to get that component of AUCC out of the way
Cons:
always homework

CHEM 112 - General Chemistry Laboratory I (GT-SC1)
Pros:
The TAs are very understanding, pretty good at explaining stuff
Cons:
has a very different way of teaching (called M.O.R.E). I found it undesirable, it was all about forming your own thoughts and you never really find out if your hypothesis is correct.

Pros: Benjamin is a great teacher but he doesn't teach the lab.
Cons: My TA was not good. He texted during class and studied his own classes. He wouldn't give partial credit. Also, he told me that sometimes on accident told us the wrong answers, but expected for us to realize and fix them.
My TA was Mr. Dunn.

Pros: Knows a lot about Chemistry
Cons: Doesn't know how to teach, makes tests EXTREMELY hard, doesn't offer graded homework, doesn't care about students
AVOID THIS TEACHER! This guy is so full of himself! He doesn't care about students grades at all and starts off the class saying he doesn't want you to like chemistry so his job is secure. He does know a lot of chemistry and follows the book to the T with his powerpoints. He also expects you to do the mastering chemistry online, but doesn't give any points for doing them. Even if you understand the material you wont do well on his exams, he purposely tries to trick students! I as well as at least half the class has D's and F's.

Pros: -Easy to get help when it's needed
Cons: -Never know who you're actual TA is going to be.
Ben Reynolds won't actually be you're professor, he's just the head director of the general chemistry labs (and kind of a d-bag). Each lab is assigned a TA, and you never know who it is until the day of your first lab. My CHEM114 instructor was great, but my 112 was not so great. Just pick a lab time that works for you and hope for the best. Little piece of advice: Start working on your lab write-ups at least 2 days before they're due. You're most likely going to need help from the TA here and there.

I had Joclyn Adkins. She is a great TA. really chill and an easy grader. Assignments are tough but it is to be expected...it is chemistryI so it is a weed out class. If you do every lab and know why you did everyting then you should do well on the practicle. Assignments can either hurt you or bring your grade up alot. Hate chemistry but the class was manageable. DO NOT wait til the night before to do assignments...you wil regret it!

Pros: Labs are too easy. An A is not too hard
Cons: Labs are too simple. Boring. Hard grading on reports.
I have Jackie as my TA. She seems like one of those who hates her job at least a little. She is nice but counts me off sometimes for something I get out of the book... as we learn it in lecture...Doesnt she have to go to lecture as well?? Why am I wrong when I follow directions?
