eh...lectures are really boring and she has an accent which always makes things worse. she takes attendance once in a while so you never know when the sign sheet is going to be coming around. she makes her own hand written home work instead of mastering physics that you have to hand in. tests are the typical difficulty of any science class where half do well and half fail. gave a decent curve at the end.

Pros: clearly knows of what she speaks, willing to dialog with interested students, fantastic sense of color-coordinated apparel

Cons: strangely averse to providing practice materials beyond common sense and well-meaning advice

I truly respect Professor Urbanc's ability to soldier boldly through her neatly hand-drawn mandatory-attendance lecture slides whilst 90% of the classroom is blatantly texting, browsing Facebook, or working on homework for other classes. Her slides are carefully designed to only make sense to the few, the proud, the students who are gifted with the ability to hinge upon her every word and understand the deep and profound connections she so clearly wishes to disseminate.



She likes handbags and in-class participation, and dislikes practice tests and classrooms with comfortable temperatures.



If you like physics and are good at it, you'll do well in her class (because of course you will). Otherwise, I recommend finding a good TA who can provide textbook exercises that will actually test your grasp of the material for the exams. Test questions are gritty and practical and very math-y, and require a solid grasp of derivations as opposed to the conceptual lecture information.

Pros: Only have to listen to her twice a week.

Cons: Doesn't know the material, lectures are off-topic, don't cover what we need to know, pretty much useless (except attendance is graded so you have to go)

Cons: attendance is graded but it says at teachers discretion so you won't know till you get your final grade for the class.

She has a lot of exams posted that are similar and the first test was exactly like them but than the second test was completely different.

Pros: She does care that students succeed. Loads of extra credit.

Cons: However, her lectures and pretty boring. Basically, if you have the equations, which are supplied during the exam, you can bullshit your way to a B easily.

I personally didnt like her lectures, I sat in the front row for most of them and still ended up just teaching myself.

Pros: Previous Exams on Koofers nearly identical to Current Exams.

She is willing to help if you ask and tries to make lectures interactive.

Pros: If you do/know how to solve the recitation problems you're good to go for the exam.

Cons: Her lectures are somewhat boring.
