Calhoun is a good guy. Hes straight up with you and he basically tells you that if you got it down you dont have to come to class because he will add all the class work weight to your final. His classes are usually funny and he tries to keep you entertain while teaching the most boring subject ever. I would take him again.

Good teacher to have for macro or micro economics. Fair and is always there to help. The quizzes that are due weekly tend to be very hard and you can either fail them or get a hundred. The exams are thorough and can sometimes be more difficult than expected.

Calhoun is honestly the best professor I've ever had at FSU. He integrates modern day things to help us learn macro. The video clips and experiments he uses adds humor to the class as well. I would strongly strongly recommend him to everyone!

Calhoun is a great professor! I recommend him for Principles of macro and micro. go to class, write down the PRS questions and pay attention! he makes it interesting and fun so the material is easier to understand.

Well prepared for class; presentations were excellent. PRS accounted for a lot of the grade, and the book was not used in class, but it was needed for exams.

Pros: Optional homework and quizzes and attendance.

If you do all the work and try to make the most of the optional work and class attendance you dont have to take the final (assuming you ace the mid terms) and its an easy A.

Cons: Choose not to do optional assignments and all of the weight gets placed onto your final exam.



The work piles up fast if you slack off, and its very easy to do so since it's all optional. The quizzes however have weekly deadlines but he will email and remind you to take them, and they're pretty much the exam.

My suggestion is to take notes or download from Bb or iTunes (and yes he uploads podcasts onto iTunes) and come to class for the clicker points! If you're not a good test taker, do all of the optional work because it takes the pressure off from the final, but if you do all the optional work, even if you slacked off on it, the final will be a piece of cake.



SAVE THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FROM THE OPTIONAL QUIZZES - write them down after you take them, they're perfect for studying for for the mid-terms and the final.



he has a speed review of the final the last several days of classes - dont bother writing down the questions in class bc it's too fast to comprehend, but instead write them down from the iTunes podcast and you have a nice neat study guide packet if you choke up the night before.



Everyone always gives Calhoun high reviews for being an awesome professor, but this class is a great example of whatever you put into the class is pretty much what you're going to get out of it.



if economics is not your thing and you're just trying to do it to get into your major of choice, I highly recommend him!

Pros: Posts podcasts of class so you can always look back at previous lectures.

I despise economics and really loved Calhoun. He made learning the subject fun and interactive. Every class is recorded via podcast and posted on Blackboard so you can watch them over again before the exams, or if you missed class. There are a lot of extra credit points but you have to go to class every day. Those points can really help you out later on in the semester when finals roll around. I would recommend taking him.

Pros: Greatest economics teacher...you need to attend his lectures and do PRS questions so that this class may be super easy..he has powerpoitns with bits and pieces of movies, tv shows, ect. so always entertaining..and do the PRS Transmitter questions so your final may not be as heavy reflection on your final grade as it should be...

Cons: i had a really early class...dont take early class, because you may miss it a lot like me

Great Teaching Style! Very enthusiastic about teaching and really wants you to understand. Everything is done on a point system and it is up to you how it is split up. So all the weight doesn't have to be on tests, if you do the quizzes and other assignments. I would definitely Recommend him! (I took him for both Micro and Macro)

Pros: You do as much work as you want to

Cons: His tests are decently hard

He doesn't penalize you for not going to class, but he does reward you for going to class. If you do all the clicker questions and get the highest review score he waives your final. Which is really awesome. He's also a really engaging teacher and knows his material.

Pros: he gives many chances to get an A

Cons: his way of grading is based on a points system, and pretty much your entire grade is based on your final if you dont do ALLLLL of the work he assignes. My final was worth 58% of my grade and I ended up with a B-

I've taken both his micro and his macro class and loved them!

Pros: if you get 95% or over on the prs questions in class, you get a 100% on the final. I took both micro and macro with him and never had to take the final.

One of the best college instructors I have ever had. Does an excellent job of making the class interesting and to engage the students with the material.

Dr. Calhoun does more than teach, he makes you understand the information and relates it to our lives in today's world. AWESOME professor!

He knows what he's doing and also wants you to do well, so he offers extra credit and he drops the lowest exam as well! definitely recommend!
