I used my book toward the end of the class, but I didn't really need it throughout most of the semester. Go to class and be prepared! Print out lecture notes that she gives you & it will help a lot (it's easier to take notes). Study hard for the weekly quizzes (at least as much as you need to in order to understand the material). Her practice quizzes are almost identical to the real ones, so be sure to practice them at least twice. She's a nice person and very fair (not a push-over...just really fair).

Pros: She obviously knows what she is talking about and her lectures make sense while you are sitting there in class.
Cons: She is so far above her students in subject matter that sometimes her logic is difficult to follow. Also, the examples in class make complete sense but then when she assigns the homework, it's a lot harder and sometimes it's concepts we haven't seen before.
This is an extremely difficult class and if you take it with Dr. Kirby, prepare to spend a lot of time studying. Forming a study group is very helpful for this class.

Her teaching style is very difficult. I got an A in precalc and trig here at FSU, but the way she teaches makes it very hard to learn and write notes.
