Pros: If you are aiming for an A in his course, you will learn much about u.s. history. Almost everything (save 5 questions out of the book) on the exams are from lectures.
Mikkelsen is really willing to help you during office hours as long as you've shown that you've at least listened and taken note in class.
Every once in a while, you will get the answer to a bonus question on the exam if you attend class.
Cons: Not really cons, but warnings:
-This is NOT an easy A course.
-even if you know ALL of the material, the exams will challenge you for an A.
-Missing a class can be very detrimental to your grade, as he doesn't post notes or lectures online at all.
Overall, he's a good guy that will TEACH you history. WARNING: He's a Steelers/Pirates fan.. :P

Pros: Awesome teacher. His lectures were very easy to follow. He's a great speaker, so his lectures didn't make you want to fall asleep. Also, attendance wasn't necessary. And the grader was lenient on the paper.
Cons: Tests were hard. I studied all of the material from the lectures and got a C.

Pros: He keeps everyone very entertained and you WANT to listen to him!
Cons: His exams are tricky. You need to have a lot of studying done before. This isn't a con, but he isn't the class to go to for an easy A.
