Lecture class is the biggest waste of time at Mason. The group project can be fun if you have a good group, but still a lot of preparation and work goes into it. The lab was good -- take it with Sheri Sorvillo. She is the best lab teacher you can get for this class.

Cons: too long to list!
if you can take someone other than her, do so! the project is ridiculously pointless. we had to make a video of a presentation and post it on youtube. She gives next to no direction yet takes points off for not following them?!?! This is basically a filter class where SOM can weed out people who they feel wouldn't make it in their undergraduate program. her midterm and final were more about memorizing words, phrases, and videos from class rather than the concepts you should be learning by studying the text and PowerPoint notes. Basically, avoid this teacher if you can, if not...you're in for a rough ride!

Pros: only 10 quizzes worth 50 pts total
Cons: Terribly boring professor, horrible communicator. It seems like she hates her life and students. Boring class in general but she doesn't make it better.
She is usually the only one teaching so you are most likely to be stuck with her. Get a good lab instructor, that is where most of your grade comes in.

Pros: the tests really are not the hardest but they are in no way a breeze either.
Cons: She really comes off as pretty rude, every time you go up to her to ask a question or something she is just quick about it.
Would not recommend but then again she is the ONLY teacher for SOM 301 that the school has so no choice.

There's a huge presentation in this class, which is about 20 mintues long and you do this with a group.



Her exams are from the book and notes, kind of hard, you have to study really hard.



This is the actual class where there is no hw given, that would be in the T.A. part of the class.
