Principles of Biology I

Pros: Very good teacher! Is able to relate what you are learning to how you will use it in your career in the real world. He does a great job of keeping the class interested and his slides are very informative and he gives you plenty of material to take notes on. He even lets you pick if you want just your exam grades to count as your grade, or if you want the exams to count as half and class participation, homework, and S.I. to count as half and exams only count as the other half.

Cons: Because he is a great teacher and enthusiastic about what he does, he covers A LOT of material, which means more material to learn for tests. His tests can be difficult. The first one, not so much, but they only get harder.

Pros: Great speaker. You can tell he's passionate about the subject. He offers you two different routes of grading to take which is nice. Clicker points can raise your grade significantly, and the questions are easy. Simple assignments.

Cons: Pretty hard tests, but the final is basically all of the tests (same questions) put together with a few added.

TAKE HIM! Best biology teacher. Be sure to get mastering biology with your book, a bunch of the practice tests on there have questions that are the exact same on the test. Got an A.

Pros: light workload.

Cons: heavy on attendance and SI. tests are moderately difficult

He makes the tests intentionally difficult by wording problems at extreme lengths. Ridiculous when it comes to punctuality, even turning in an assignment 5 min. after getting to class slightly later than the rest of the class and he has already taken up the assignment; he will mark your paper as being late and docked by 1/2.

General Biology

Pros: Tries his best to keep class interesting. Used CPS clicker frequently in class. Works at a good pace.

Cons: Although I attended classes I never did well on the tests. I was always in the class average but I couldn't seem to get A's on them no matter how much I studied.

Pros: H loves biology and everything about. He will argue that it is the MOST important science in the world. The test are right from the notes and the homework. You do need to study but not killing yourself to study.
