BIOL 1001 - GENERAL BIOLOGY
He is the Dean of Basic Sciences, so he is kind of too smart to be teaching 1001. Its hard for such smart people to explain the basics. It comes naturally to him. I worked really hard and will end up with an A.

I found him to be a great instructor. The way his class was set up, however, was so easy for me that I barely atteneded class, and only studied for the test the night before (made A's on all of them). But the few times I attended his lectures, I found them to be very infomative, and his PowerPoint notes to be very good.

GENERAL BIOLOGY

The Grades were curved by adding points to the highest grade until it was a 100. He didn't use the book really, but talked about useful things in it. All notes were on Moodle and he was a knowledgeable and effective instructor. Participation grades by clicker.

You have to go to class, because 10% of your grade is from using your clicker in class. He posts the notes the week after he's done teaching a chapter.

Pros: He is very knowledgable (I mean, he's the Dean of the LSU College of Biology).
Cons: Dr. Carman should not be teaching BIOL 1001. He made the course a lot harder than it needed to be, and we covered almost twice the amount of material as the other 1001 classes (obviously at an accelerated rate).
