GENERAL BIOLOGY
Dr. Crousillac is a younger professor. He has a dry sense of humor and is monotone. The tests come straight from the PowerPoints-make sure you read everything. Pop quizzes in class but all you have to do is write your name on a sheet of paper and turn it in-they're pretty much to check attendance. Always a bonus at the end of the exam-usually the football game's score or how to spell his last name.

this is actually a rating for biology 1201, but that wasn't a option to select.
but anyway, crousillac really knows a LOT about biology. and not only that, he really understands how various aspects of biology connect together. like he was able to explain what happens in the brain of an addict, what antidepressants actually do in the body, and why coastal areas like california have nice weather all year because of the properties of water. these were things i never even thought about, but i found it so interesting to understand the why's and how's. i thought it was cool that he knew all these bits of information and how they connected to biology.

crousillac is a great professor he knows what he is talking about and tries to make class interesting-the 5 pop quizzes really help your grade out and the test are not extremely hard-everything is straight from powerpoints

Pros: really cool professor, understands that it is an introduction class for non bio major, so he treats it that way.

Cons: MUST to go to class, there's 5 random quizzes where all you have to do is write your name and what he needs to go over more in the class...you get 100pts for each of these and again these are RANDOM and he usually does it on days when people are most likely to miss class (day before/after holidays, days of major events, a lot ppl walking out early)
thinks he's a bad ass and can be a dick sometimes but its all worth the grade and easy work so its give and take.
he wants you to register with Mastering Biology, which cost $30 w/o the book and you will never need it for a grade. The suck ass part about it though is that it is worth the first quiz grade so you have to get it.

Pros: Notes on Moodle and tests are directly from notes
Cons: Random quizzes count for a lot if you miss class, makes you buy MasteringBiology for a quiz grade though it is never graded.
He claims to make biology easy for non-majors but he could make it a *lot* easier. He still tries to trick you on the tests with many details. Random quizzes are aggravating if you miss class a few times. I hate that in order to get one quiz grade you had to purchase MasteringBiology, which is NOT cheap. I don't like the idea of buying grades and found it unfair, especially since it's not graded or used in class in any way. Otherwise, for bio you could get a lot worse.

Pros: He is a wonderful straightforward teacher. If you take notes and understand them, you can easily get an A on each exam. The test come straight from the slides no trick.
Cons: The 1st quiz is making sure you purchase mastering biology. If you don't want to waste the money then just take the 0 for the 1st quiz and make sure you are present for the others.

Pros: He has a review sessions before every test. He is young and laid back. He also has bonus questions on every test that are pretty much given as a joke. Also, he has unannounced "quizzes" that are just to check attendance. He will not answer a question that is asked more than twice, so listen to what's going on or don't ask questions. Go to class and you'll do fine.
