GENERAL BIOLOGY

A very fair teacher. You have to study and you have to be in his class. He gives you notes, but you can only get them if you are in class. He does not take attendance, but frequently awards people that are in class with extra credit assignments. You have 4 exams, none of which are comprehensive. You have weekly quizes online on Moodle which account for 5% of your grade. Take the notes and read the chapters and you will be fine.

his tests were in the computer lab so there was always tons of questions that could pop up on tests but didn't always. studying is sort of confusing because he pulls questions from the book, his notes, study guides, quizes, and class. makes for a lot of info to study for both quizes and tests. HIS BONUS QUESTIONS SUCK... first test- match 80's bands with cover albums, second test- match brittany spears albums with year of production, third test- match fragrances with their bottles, and i'm sure the final with suck as well.

Pros: gives a ton of extra credit. he knows his biology.

mastering biology helps your grade out and you can google most of the questions and they pop up on yahoo answers or answers.com
Cons: tests have nothing to do with the notes even though he tells you to study the notes, you won't succeed in taking notes in class unless you have a laptop, and it gets far too technical for INTRO biology class. expensive book that you have to buy new or have to pay like $40 for the mastering biology activation

will NOT curve up on final grade no matter what, even if it less than a tenth of a point...even a .9!
he's really cool during the semester, but by the end of it, he becomes an asshole

Pros: he's really nice and really friendly. he rewards you if you go to class.
Cons: tests are pretty arbitrary and detailed.
Hrincevich isn't as easy as some people make him out to be, but he's a really good teacher. He teaches the material from the powerpoints thoroughly. You don't have to go to class (i didn't) but he rewards people that go to class with extra credit assignments. His bonus questions on the exams are pretty much impossible, unless you're familiar with 40+ 80s rock band album covers. Before the tests, study the quizzes on the book's companion site. They help out a lot too. It's a hard A, but a pretty easy B. I took him for 1001 and 1002 and got an A in both.

Pros: funny guy; really knows the subject; gives a lot of bonus; gives a good review before tests; found majority of the final questions online
Cons: have to show up to class, or you will not do well on test
I needed just one extra point to bring my grade up a letter grade after the final, went to his office, talked to him about it, and he ended up giving me the point I needed.

Pros: curves all of his tests by 20+ points and gives a million opportunities to ear bonus
Cons: none really, favorite teacher
Take this teacher! he gives so many opportunities for bonus and always tells you exactly what's on the test! His homework and quizzes are also super easy, the answers are always easy to find.

The answers to the quizzes can mostly be found by typing the questions into google and i didn't even purchase a book and may end up having an A in the class.. I've made high B's on all my tests and the quizzes really help

Pros: He is the teacher to take for biology. He will curve the tests and offer extra credit prior to the test. I made a 77 on the first test and the curve and extra credit put me at 97. The curves shrink, but not by much.
Cons: The material is very boring and you fill in powerpoints to get the notes. He doesn't really make boring information more fun in anyway.
I HIGHLY recommend him. I hear the other teachers don't curve as generously. And he is just a great guy who understands that the people taking his class aren't bio majors so don't really understand the information easily or really care about it.

Cons: He's obnoxious
I DID NOT like Hrincevich at all... until i stopped going to his class. Easily made an A in his class by simply studying the notes and pictures he gives out and doing the MasteringBiology quizzes/homework (tip: all the answers can be found by googling the question). He give a TON of bonus for random things (i.e. find a four leaf clover, turn in dog food). I had a friend who went to the class everyday to get the notes, I chose to get them off of note swap. In the end, we both made the same grade in the class. Pick him for an easy A

Homework answers on yahoo answers

Decent enough material

ALOT of bonus opportunities
Cons: His question can be confusing and tricky and he'll tell you in class that he does it to set the difference between those that come for class and dont.
He isn't the easiest teacher, but i'm taking him for 1002 because I actually learnt something and it's enjoyable, he curved our first test by TWENTY points, that generous, but the other ones weren't too bad. If you just read the text book you can make an B, if you study, an A is definitely possible with all his bonuses.

You can skip this class every day and still easily pull a B just make sure you keep up to date on the quizzes on moodle, if you do go to class towards the end of the semester he offers a lot of extra credit that u can get just for going to class, you can find the answers to the quizes by googling the questions, the tests arent bad, you will have to study and know the pictures from the slides shows well, you can find most of the slide notes on noteswap

Pros: Yeah for bonus points.
Cons: Wasn't used to non-biology majors.
Would be a good teacher to have if you are actually going into this field, other than that he is your worse enemy. He goes into great detail about what your are learning that you do not even want to know about. He also words his question weir. Read his questions a couple of times before your answer. Do all the crosswords and words of the day, if the grades are low he takes points from these.

Pros: Great teacher, funny
Cons: ALOT of seriously boring material.
Hrincevich is awesome, however the material taught sucks. The tests cover so much it's almost overwhelming, but it's not impossible to do well in the class. He offers alot of chances for bonus points on the tests, and provides alot of study materials (alot of the test questions come directly from the practice questions posted).

Pros: Funny, open, welcoming, always willing to help with homework and other suggestions. Had a lot of great stories to tell us.
Cons: sometimes the homework information was a bit difficult to locate in the book, but that's it.
I loved him. Especially his opening speech on the first day, when he said "Don't call me Mr. Adam, it makes me sound like a pedophile."

Pros: Lots of bonus work! Definitely get rewarded for coming to class.
Cons: The tests are really hard, and its kind of difficult to know what to study. You have to study to know what's going on, though.
Good teacher, but the tests are really hard. Always go to class. You have to go to get the notes, but he does a lot of bonuses for people who come to class.
