ADV 205 - Principles of Advertising
Pros:
She is a very nice professor and I have learned a great deal from her. There are 3 exams which are online so you can choose to do it anywhere; your room, library, or the classroom where you can ask her questions or even ask other students there for answers. I used the textbook frequently (to help me get answers) and just to understand the material better since I'm an advertising major. She's a great professor and highly recommended. This course is not only easy but teaches you a lot about advertising and can help you figure out what branch in advertising you want to go into.

Easy class to 4.0.. You only take 3 exams and have no final. My class lucked out, and we didn’t even have to take the last exam because of a malfunction in the computer system (exams are taken online at home.) She decided to just give everyone a 90% on the last exam, which I didn’t even know was allowed. Anyways, in my opinion she’s a very boring teacher. Advertising is something I found interesting until I took this class with her. Even the guest speakers we had were WAY more interesting to listen to. I pretty much facebooked the whole time in class. However, she makes it so you have to goto class because she has random in-class assignments, which account for 40% of your grade. Also, buy the book!! The book is all you need to do well on the exams; the questions often come word for word out of the book.

Pros: Total of 3 Exams (not cumulative, and online - meaning open book/note / you can sit in your bed and take it if you're really lazy!
She's a really nice prof, easy to talk to, *funny*, treats her students as adults and makes things easy to understand.
Also, she's really fast at replying to any emails you send to her and she actually understands how to use Angel! Definitely recommend!
Cons: On Angel, she posts her Powerpoint slides as Six-Slides-To-A-Page PDF Outlines, meaning you cannot change the format of how it prints out. The annoying part is that the videos we watch in class show up as blank slides when you print it so in the end you have a weird scattering of slides that take up way more space than necessary. Other than this one odd complaint, I loved her as a prof!

I never went to class. I had it at 8am and it was pointless. You only have 3 exams and no final! the exams are open book, open note. You can take it with a group anywhere. We went to the library and we usually did really good like 88%, which is good for not going to class. YOu have quizzes online for every chapter, but if you go to the online site for the book the quiz she posts on angel is the same as the one on there and you can just press random answers to get the right ones for the angel quizzes! There are maybe 5 assignments that we had to do , but i just looked in the book and usually got 100% , but it usually doesn't matter what you get as long as you try. She is a nice professor and I 4 pointed the class and only went on exam days.

Pros: Shes hilarious. My favorite class. Once i took this class i knew advertising was for me. She makes the lectures fun and all you do is watch commercials for like the first 3 weeks. She puts the notes online too so thats cool. Oh and goes pretty much straight by the book. Exams are online.
Cons: Some but very few questions on the exams are worded funny. Does not tell you when things are due for class. So CHECK ANGEL CONSTANTLY!
Take the exams in the class room. Theres about a hundred other students there to help answer questions and everyone just shouts out the answers. Even Bukovac will help you answer some.

Pros: All exams are online. you can use notes/book/friends
Cons: Sometimes she words the questions weird on th exams to where they don't make sense.
She is a funny teacher who tries to make class interesting. She shows a lot of commercials and ads to make the topics less dry. She always lets class out at least a half hour early. All exams are online. Easy 4.0

Pros: - all quizzes are found online if you search Google
- tests are taken online so you can do them with others in class
- lectures are posted on Angel
- activities are mostly posted online but some in class. good way to boost up your grade (worth 30%)
Cons: - hard to listen to at 8am
I thought this class was going to be really fun and interesting. For the first quarter of the semester we watched a lot of commercials which was cool, but then you got into major details of advertising. That required a lot of memorization and it wasn't very interesting material.
3 tests - 60% of grade
Chapter Quizzes online - 10% of grade
Activities online or in-class - 30% of grade
Professor Bukovac-Phelps was a good professor and she structured her class conveniently and pretty easy. It was more work than I thought it would be but since the tests are online you have all of your notes and book to take it. Even though the tests are online they are still really challenging. I would recommend this class to someone if they needed a business credit.

Pros: shows a lot of videos/commercials in class
lets class out early or cancels class often
Cons: lecture can drag on a bit
easy class. tests can be a bit long/hard if you dont have a group of people- but theyr online, so do them with a group of peopel and there way easy. no final. she is helpful and fun. a few in class assignments that are completion based but a chunk of your grade, and 10 questions on each test are usually lecture ( commercials and funny ads that she likes) so it is important to go, although it turns into a fb class really

this is the class that I took with no pressure. it is a easy class, you even dont need to attend each class, she will post slides on angel. and exams are online, you can take them wherever you want, you can discuss them with classmates. The only things is, though the exam is easy, read those concepts on the book before take the exam, so that you wont cannot find anything and get rush. I think everyone can get 4.0~~what is more, the class material is about the basic of advertising, it's interestion to learn!!

Pros: Online exams - get a group of people to meet up it helps
Rarely studied
Homework assignments are really easy you just have to check angel a lot cuz they will be taken down randomally so do them (in class assignments and homework are decent size of your grade)
Few extra credit opportunities, do them their easy.
Cons: last exam is trickier than the others for some reason and they are harder to find in the book and notes so you might have to actually study a little before it.

Jan is always a hoot, you never know what she's going to say, do, or wear. She tried to get the class stimulated, but because we were all seniors, none of us cared. There isn't really anything to the course but she knows what she's talking about. She had an open note exam that she said was easy, but was honestly the hardest exam I've ever taken. Other than that, it's an easy 400 level course.

She's chill. Don't skip class, random in-class assignments and/or quizzes given. Lots of chances for extra credit, don't miss out on those!
I crammed for the exams and did pretty well, until she realized her exams were "a bit too easy" and made the third exam extra difficult, BUT during the exam, the online test taking site crashed so she gave everyone in the class a 90%.

Overall nice lady. Teaches well. But since the tests are all online, you can just study the night before and then use the book on the tests and still get like a 87% or higher. Lectures are pretty worthless, but you will have to go just in case she has a In-Class assignment.

Pros: Online exams! Pajama exams when there's a blizzard outside!
Cons: It was at 8 a.m. other than that, no complaints.
Don't buy the book. She goes over everything you need to know in the power points. Just pay attention in class and you'll be fine. (4.0)
