If I was to describe Wei Peng in the most specific way possible I guess she would be as follows: She is the devil, the female form of Lucifer if you will, a sorceress of torture, a rambling, mumbling, incoherent, moronic, ear punishing, nail on chalk board sounding, idiot, an icon of all that is horrible in this world, an illiterate, illogical, ignorant, manifestation of evil into the eager minded, hopeful, intelligent students in her class. I thought she was going to be a good teacher, she looked nice with a smiling face, cute pregnant belly and a sort of "Help me help you" sort of presence. I was wrong, so so very wrong. She teaches a Telecommunications class but is challenged in operating a power point slide and projector, her voice is an incessant, shrill, shrieking of high pitched squeals that resembles a piglet being anally molested. You can't decipher a word she is saying besides "Uhhh" and " uhhmmm" . She was daily out smarted by a loud mouthed hobbit looking student in the front row who seemed to know more than her at every angle, which isn't a big accomplishment. Her class has scarred me for life. And I'm not one of those kids who got a bad grade and wants to denigrate a professor there forth. I 4.0'd this class so heed my warning. I would have rather watched Hillary Rodham Clinton perform unspeakable acts on a jackal than attend another second of her hellhole of a lecture. I will undoubtedly need therapy later on in my life because of Wei Peng and I am making an appointment at Olin ASAP to repair my ear drums and check for a hemorrhage in my brain. Never ever ever take Wei's class and my god have mercy on her black, twisted, malevolent soul.

This Professor is not very interesting or overly knowledgeable, but she passes along the information from a powerpoint slideshow. The tests are deceivingly hard, so make sure you study a lot before exams.

Peng seems like she is a nice lady and seems to be very intelligent however- she does not speak English very well and therefore SUPER hard to understand. She told us the very first day of class that if we wanted to take this class with an interesting prof that we should switch to the next semester because she was going to give boring lectures. Which was 100% true! I'm a TC major and am required to take this class but a word of advice- DO NOT take it with Peng. Although I did learn some things, a lot of it I already knew. The exams were horribly written. She constantly repeated questions within the exam and would word them such that it was impossible to understand just what she was acting-so you end up getting the question wrong. Don't take this class with Peng if you can help it. I'm a good student and did go to every class, took pretty good notes, and studied for all the exams and still ended up with a less than satisfactory grade and learned very little.

I did not enjoy this course. Dr. Peng is a rather dry lecturer, but she's very nice and is rather at a disadvantage with this course. Being such a large course, it's hard for her to get to know students though you can tell she wants to. The lectures and exams have been recycled for many years and are rather ambiguous and unfairly worded. We complained about some questions and she gave the whole class bonus points, but it's hard to do that when you don't get to see the questions until after the exam.

In a nutshell, she's dry but nice. The class itself sucks, but her homework is very easy. Other profs who teach this are more exciting, which she will tell you herself, but if you can handle her dry lecturing and aren't too lazy, you won't do horribly.

Wei Peng is a VERY nice lady BUT her English is VERY poor. The lectures are the worst thing in the world. Literally, I would rather jump off a cliff then go to this class. I would video chat with my friends the entire time or be on Facebook. The discussion class also is 100% useless (we had an exam that week and the TA didn't go over the exam at all). This class is extremely boring. The book is 100% useless (though if you are REALLY bored it is interesting to read). There are also stupid assignments they have you do throughout the class. The assignments are easy once you get started. They are VERY tedious and make no connection to the class. There are only 5 a semester but it's just like hell.

Pros: -Interesting material
Cons: -Accent/mannerisms makes it hard to be engaged in the lectures.

-Bad teaching style
Class material was interesting, but Wei Peng makes it pretty terrible. The combination of her hard to understand accent, improper grammer, and dry teaching style make this class taken with Wei not the greatest. She is a sweet and well intentioned lady, but shed be better off teaching from her home country. The class wasn't unbearable by any means, in fact it may have been my best grade (was easier than TC100 imo). The tests weren't bad at all, just try to go to class and study the slides and your golden. Everything said, I'd probably rather have her teach than Caleb.

Professor Peng is very knowledgeable in her area of study and tries her best to help everyone understand what she's teaching. Her English is very poor and her lectures are not the most engaging, but all of the powerpoints are online with a few blanks, so you can print them and bring them to class. I don't think that any of the material is that difficult. If you just go to class and do the out of class assignments you should easily get a 3.5 or higher.

please do your self a favor and do not take this class with her. i went into this class with her thinking it was going to be an easy elective. It would have been... welll if you could actually understand her throughout her "uh uhhhhh uhhhhh " wow. The test questions are very unclear and after the first exam our class basically started a riot. Take it with another teacher, its not worth the aggrivation

Nice lady, can't teach worth a damn. I understand English isn't her native language, but she stutters so much, that it's EXTREMELY difficult to follow along for more than 1 or 2 sentences. I don't doubt that she knows her stuff, but she cannot convey the material in a productive way whatsoever. Which is ashame because alot of the material is interesting.

Pros: Pretty easy online class
Cons: There are about 10 graded exercises.
The exercises aren't graded too harshly so pretty much all you have to do is complete them on time. There is also a requirement to post to a discussion board a couple of times but that's easy and you can just use information obtained from the recorded lecture. Easy 4.0 for an online class.

I really like having Dr. Peng for TC 100. She is a very nice lady and does her very best to explain the material. Lectures are boring, yes, but lecture is lecture. I dont regret at all having her as my professor.

It's better for her to be a housewife!! She's not good at English, it's not her fault. Lectures are really boring, the only thing she did is reading her PPT. I went to class just because of the attendence.

Either the class was useless or Wei Peng didn't teach it very well. Probably both. I think I gleaned a few interesting tidbits of information from the class, but overall it was just a waste of time.

If you go to class and look over the notes before exams, you should do fine. Some of the exam questions can be a little tricky, but overall the class was pretty easy
