It was hard to take notes sometimes because of having no powerpoints but he would repeat himself if you asked. It was a really easy class and you didn't even have to do the readings because he would just lecture about everything you need to know.
Pros: His class was really easy and he gave extra credit sometimes.
Cons: He didn't have any visual aides for class. He just sat at the front and lectured.

He gives about 2-3 extra credit group assignments which are just a quick paper that you do in class with your group about one of the ideologies.

A lot of my friends had taken ISS 210 the semester before me, and all I heard were bad reviews. The class was hard, the profs were impossible, and the material was boring. Only one friend said his class had been easy and his prof easy to understand. Turns out I got the same prof as him- Sinha.

Yes, the material was still boring to me, and Sinha talks kind of soft and low, so I did fall asleep a few times. However, Sinha constantly repeats what he said, so even if you do doze off, you can easily find your place again in his lecture. If you stay awake for the whole thing, everything he says ends up drilled into your brain since he's repeated it so many times. Don't let the fact that he doesn't use slides or powerpoints daunt you, because as I see it, it just limits the amount of pointless information other profs attempt to cram into one presentation.

There are a few books for this class, but I did not even open a single one and still ended up with a 4.0 in the class because the exams are so easy. Almost every answer is something you can pull out of the back of your brain from lecture, or just simple common sense. Towards the end, I didn't bother to take notes, since the things he says stick so well in your head, plus before each exam he gives you every single main point relevant to the exam. Cannot emphasize how good Sinha and his class are, 4.0 is easy enough to get, especially because he offers extra credit.. if you get below a 3.5 in this class, you must be either lazy or of questionable intelligence.

Pros: Easy Exams

Some exam questions have joke answers
Cons: LOTS of reading for class
Prof. Sinha is pretty awesome. He has a few annoying quirks (CONSTANTLY saying"Wait a minute, everybody with me?") but they are easy to get over. His exam were all multiple choice and they were pretty easy for the most part, as long as you did the reading for class. Unfortunately, there was a lot of reading for the class. Nothing to major, but if you can't handle a lot of reading, don't take Prof. Sinha, otherwise he is a pretty decent professor and a great guy.

Pros: Decent amount of work to get a 4.0. No need to ever buy his books. Lets you out early. Pretty funny guy
Cons: You have to actually go to lecture because there are no notes posted and his exams are strictly from lecture.

Sinha is easily the most boring professor I've had yet at MSU. His unclever jokes are made even less hilarious when delivered with his nasally monotone, and the only way I ever managed to stay awake was by doodling pictures of his pony-tail mullet instead of taking notes. This class should be a breeze if you are even mildly intelligent and can survive through the lectures, taking care not to drown in a puddle of your own drool.

Pros: -no homework, ever..

-fair exam pace

-extra credit opportunity

-reading the books isn't necessary!

-interesting/funny lectures
Cons: no syllabus schedule, which is why class attendance is so important. he will tell you in class when they will be
can i just say how lucky i was to have gotten this class? i signed up for it by chance and throughout the year realized what a great class it was. i had so many friends tell me they had impossible ISS profs and exams, only to reply how easy my own was. sinha is a quirky, kind of annoyingly funny man that makes ISS as easy as possible to get by. don't bother buying the books, i tried reading 3 pages of one and got bored hoping i wouldnt need to know any of the information for the tests. lucky me because none of any of it is used. all you need to know will be taught in class. towards the end of the semester i got bored with his lectures and antics, mostly zoning out during lecture, but i literally finished the final in less than 25 minutes because unlike some friends, i had toughed it out through all of his classes and was able to recollect the things he has said. easy 4.0 if you try. oh, and class attendance also helps because he gives random opportunity for extra credit assignments if you're willing to work in groups and make stuff up :)

Pros: Easy Exams, 2 extra credit assignments, funny professor, Never even opened the books.
Cons: 2 exams and a final make the entire grade. No visuals.
TAKE THIS CLASS I got a 4.0 in his class and I never opened the books once, I would suggest not even buying the books. You have to go to class and basically write everything that comes out of his mouth and you'll do fine. The exams arent very hard, but if you do bad on one, you wont do good in the class. His extra credit assignments are worth about 4 points, but he wont just give you all the points if your work isnt good enough. My first one I only got 1 point of extra credit.

Pros: easy material

no work outside of class
Cons: boring
It is hard to sit through this class sometimes, but if you pay attention & take notes, and make it to class for the extra credit, it is very easy, and actually pretty interesting. Don't buy any of the books, he goes over all of them in class. I got a 3.5 with VERY little work - and even got to sell the notes I took online because so many people skipped.

I don't know how people can say that Sinha is a horrible professor. This really is a great class to take for your 300 level ISS. The class is out of 100 total points. The first 3 exams are out of 20 points (all multiple choice) and then there is a cumulative 40 point final. Professor Sinha sits in front of the class and strictly reads off notes. Yes it's a bit boring but you do have to go to class to get the notes and have to listen because sometimes questions on the exams are pretty specific. He offers 3 extra credit opportunities totaling 15 points, so basically you could do poorly on one exam and make up for it. Sinha tries really hard to generate class discussion but generally wasn't too successful. If you speak up he will love it and had more people spoken throughout the class it wouldn't of been as boring. Go to class, take notes, speak up and study and you should be able to do well. His office hours are also very helpful.

AWESOME Prof!!! The tests aren't too bad because the are so short and if you go to his office hours you will get a COMPLETE understanding of the material! I find his humor funny, but overall he's a pretty understanding guy who just wants you to understand what he's talking about. He makes you aware of Big Buisness and forms of gov't through the years and applies that to themes such a race and immigration.

If you don't do well on a test GO TO CLASS and oick up the extra credit...it could turn a 2.5 into a 3.5!!!

Pros: Pretty cool guy; tests are straightforward and easy
Cons: Lecture is 2 hours long, hard to pay attention to monotone lecturing for that long
I would much rather attend this class for 1 hour 4 days a week than the 2 hour days I currently have. Other than the length of the class which can be unbearable, the lectures can be interesting at times and the tests are very easy, especially since he doesnt really change what he does from semester to semester. If you attend class and take notes you will do absolutely fine.

Great proffesor. Yeah, sure he has a monotone to his way of speaking but really its not that hard to pay attention to. Easy exams, I literally studied maybe 5 minutes for the second one and still got a 20 out of 20. Really to do well in his class just show up and pay attention. Personally I found the material he chose to talk about fascinating so it made paying attention all the easier.
