Dr. Cobb was seriously one of the best science teachers I have ever had throughout college. He posts powerpoints and goest through them in class. I went home or to the library everyday after lecture and made notecards from his powerpoints to study. I made an A on every lecture exam and was exempt from the final exam. You have to study, but this is A&P, surely you did not take this class thinking you were not going to have to study. Memorize the powerpoints and you will do perfect on the exams. The exam questions are straight-forward and I think that even the dumbest person could do okay on them. The questions ask you to define things or simple things that are in the powerpoints that you should have picked up on. Go to class and memorize powerpoints and don't cram the night before and you will come out with an A.
Pros:
-Test are straight from powerpoints.
-Test questions are straight-forward and not difficult.
-Make an A average in Lecture=No final exam!

Dr. Cobb is a great guy but I would never say a great teacher. He presents his material in a very confusing way. You can not miss ANY days of class in order to fully understand. After class you need to look over the notes and read the book to get the full understanding b/c I can assure you it won't come from Cobb. His 1st exam was easy, 2nd a lot of students failed, 3rd class average was probably a B. When he suggests to read over the material everyday he is not kidding. There are definitely worse teachers than Cobb so if you have him I suggest to just stick with it and study, and if you don't have him I suggest to really try and get in the class. He is such a nice guy & will answer any questions outside of class.
Exams: The study guides he gives will help..but only slightly. There is much more material on the exams than what the study guide presents so never just study it...you need to read your powerpoints front & back as well as the long boring chapters in the book, its the only way you will get a good grade.
Homework: STUDYING
Textbook: textbook is not used in the class but definitely is a MAJOR help on the exams...you do need it, trust me.

Dr. Cobb was friendly, approachable, and knows the subject matter. He's pretty laid back but doesn't slack. He welcomed questions in lecture (we had 200 students at the beginning of the semester). His presentations are clear and well organized. A little note - he lectured using Power-Point slides, and the slides were available for printing from his website. We could print them off before class, and follow along as he taught, adding the extras he brought up in lecture. I had never had classes like that before, so that was very helpful. Going to class was necessary, to get ALL the info he tested on (he didn't put everything on his pre-printed class notes). Tests were fair but you really have to study, read up in the text, and know the concepts. It is hard but it just takes time and effort. He said he really wants us to get good grades, and he is genuinely interested in that. I recommend him (and I hope I get him for A&P II).
Exams: Around 70 multiple choice questions, some requiring you to apply info, not just memorize facts.
Homework: None in the lecture.
Textbook: Text book was helpful (expensive but it covers 2 semesters), and I recommend having it.

You won't find an "easy" A&P teacher, trust me. Cobb isn't as bad as some reviews make him out to be. You definitely have to study, as with any BIOL course, and you can not wait till the night before to study..or 2 or 3 nights before. He's not an easy professor but there are definitely much much more difficult BIOL prof at MT. I would recommend him over any of the others!
Exams: STUDY STUDY STUDY!! There isn't an AnP course you can take where you don't study, so don't try to get the easy way out (you won't!) Cobb's test are as close to simple as you'll get with AnP, just make sure you read the powerpoints. It's best to read the notes each night after the class & definitely don't wait till the night before (trust me on that one!)
Homework: Study!!
Textbook: Cobb can get a bit off subject so its helps to read the textbook a week before each exam

Dr.Cobb is a nice guy. He is incredibly hard to get a hold of after class though. If you want to meet with him you have to continually e-mail him.He allows you to make up one test if you do it usually within two days of missing it and you tell him ahead of time that you are going to miss the class. Dr.Cobbs lectures are not at all organized. He goes from you thing to another and there is no structure to the lecture. I love A and P but really struggled in his class. I had an A in my lab but failed his lecture. You definatley have to understand his way of htinking to pass the class. He is very very difficult to follow during lecture. He assumes you understand thigns that he has not covered well or at all. I would not suggest taking Dr.Cobb unless you have had a highschool A and P class(that you did very well in. I would study non stop for this class and still could not pass. I do not reccommend Dr.Cobb
Exams: He graded "fairly" but his test questions were not clear
Homework: no homework was assigned but I HIGHLY recommend reading the chapters he covers and any extra A and P material you can find to study
Textbook: He didn not necessarily require you to have a textbook although you DEFINATELY need one. He did not care what A and P text book you used so unless you want the newest book out I would recommend getting a book that is an edition later because it will be much cheaper and is the same material.

Dr. Cobb is an intelligent man. He teaches a very hard class, and i have heard tons of bad things about this man on this site so i went in to the class thinking i should look out for the worst...but as i actually sat down and heard him teach i was wondering why people bashed him so hard.Yes, the material is veryyyyyyyyy detailed, but this is also one of the hardest classes you could probably ever take so you should expect that you have to study like no other. Dr. Cobb is very witty, he made the class laugh numerous times. It is also apparent that he loves the subject because he gets excited about it a lot. He seriously is one of the coolest teachers ive ever had. There should be an MTSU review for courses so people could bash anatomy, not Dr. Cobb. The class is the thing most of these people should be hostile towards.
Exams: the tests were very challenging and hard. BUT THIS IS A REALLY HARD SUBJECT. He liked to ask questions in interesting ways but i wouldnt say that he ever tried to trick us.
Homework: studying. studying. studying. There were also vocab quizzes given so in the end it would add a total of 50 points to your grade. They helped a lot.
Textbook: very very detailed book....but you can only expect that from a science class. It did help a lot, and when you follwed the notes you took in class and read the book it was great.

Dr. Cobb is a very intelligent man who loves his subject matter. His class is VERY difficult, however he teaches a very difficult and complex subject. This class should be very hard or you won't learn anything useful for medical professions. Come to class every day because you don't want to miss his explanations...it's tougher to understand by reading the book. He is always willing to go back over stuff that is hard. He will meet with students as needed to help them understand the material. He is a very good teacher because he makes you learn the material!!!
Exams: Very challenging! Study every week--do not cram! Use MTSU's A & P web site to practice questions from old exams. Also the textbook publisher has a great website to use as a study aid. Questions are hard but fair. Dr. Cobb expects you to understand the physiological processes rather than to just memorize your notes.
Homework: No homework was assigned.
Textbook: You WILL need the textbook. Dr. Cobb expects you to read it and will test over the material in it as well as his notes. It is a very detailed textbook and sometimes very hard to understand--but it covers a difficult and complicated subject. However, there is a wonderful website by the book publisher that is SO helpful for studying! Lots of diagrams, practice questions, practice exams, etc.

I agree with the other comments about Dr Cobb being an extremely nice person! He was alot of fun and really intellegent HOWEVER, being nice doesnt mean that one can teach! He would go over stuff and give assigned readings from the book but the tests looked as though they came from another book or somewhere else. My biggest problem is the fact that we are pushed to learn more then the semester allows us time for, so we are rushed through it. I took this because Nursing requires it, however, i find it extremely facinating and wanted to LEARN it, not just memorize it long enough to get through a test. I feel like all i have done is memorize NOT learn. The profs in the Bio department have to see that between Dr Cobb's lecture and Cobb/Stegall-Faulk lab, there are ALOT of students not doing well. When this many students are having a hard time, is it the fault of the students or the TEACHERS? Again, dont get me wrong because he was an extremely nice guy! Just not very good at getting the material across!
Exams: Tests were EXTREMELY hard! He was kind enough to give out a study guide this semester BUT it should have been STUDY ALL THE CHAPTERS WE ALREADY covered!
Homework: No homework except memorize!
Textbook: Text book was somewhat helpful but you really have to read and re read and re read to get what you need

Dr. Cobb is probably one of the most underestimated people on this review. I am not passing his class with an A but that does not mean it is his fault. It is a HARD subject, your academic advisor should have told you that. Dr Cobb is an incredibly smart man and he genuinely tries to help you understand the material. He is very personable too. He is the type that would probably have a beer with you if he saw you out somewhere. I imagine that most people only came to that class on a regular basis to look at him as he is extremely nice looking too. In my opinion, he is a good teacher!!!!!!!!
Exams: The tests were pretty hard cuz you had to know all these little meticulous details but if you are in the nursing profession those details are pretty important to know anyway. I would not want a nurse working on me who did not have this knowledge
Homework: Did not require "homework" but if you want a passing grade then you really have to read and study every night. If you stay ahead then you should know what is going on in the class. The trick? Just read ahead
Textbook: The textbook is a little hard to understand at times but if you read and reread and reread then you will get it. You REALLY need the book for this course. Do not try to just memorize notes, it is not going to help you at all

I thought that Dr. Cobb was passionate in his teaching and cares about his students. After the second test and having students coming to him after the deadline for dropping a class, he offered to drop a test grade because he could not bypass University policy regarding deadlines. It should have opened up students' eyes to realizing that they were fortunate had a second chance for redemption. Unfortunatley, the class average for the next test was less than 60%. Guess you can lead a horse to water.. blah blah blah.. I loved Dr. Cobb and if you care about your education, you will TOO!! Not bad to look at either, if you like older men.. lol.. good luck to all..
Exams: The tests were pretty much off of Dr. Cobb's power point notes which could be printed off his website. There were a few questions from in class examples, but just a few. If you listen to his lectures, you'll know what HE thought was most important.
Homework: No homework, I just recommend studying daily, even if just for a while and familiarize yourself with all the terms.
Textbook: It makes sense to read the text before attending the lecture. It will open up more understanding of the material. The textbook gave me several "light bulb" moments when I was having a hard time grasping a concept.

Dr. Cobb is a great professor, but like I said he is not the easiest. Anatomy and Phyisology is a weeding out class for nursing students. You have to put effort and time into the class. If your not planning on going into something like Nursing or the Medical field do not take the class. He gives 4 exams with the 4th (final) being comprehensive. He dropped one of the 3 exams because he felt like the class average was to low. He is great to talk to one on one and will make sure you understand the material before you leave. He does have a problem with people leaving early and will call you out if you decide to leave. On the first day the class had like 300 students and by the third week 40 people came to class on a daily basis.
Exams: Everyone says that his test are hard. They are not the easiest but it's not impossible to answer them. He makes you think with each question. They are very specific with what they asks. Go to class because he it explains it better then the notes do and he will asks questions about something he said in class. The people who think the test are horrible are the ones who don't study for the exams
Homework: none
Textbook: the textbook is good to read because sometimes the examples were better then his.

Dr. Cobb is a very kind man. He really does want you to understand the material and he will go to any possible lenght to help you, but you have to talk to him. In class is definatly not the best place to do this. Dr. Cobb is much more approachable when there are not 70+ students milling about waiting to ask him questions. If you are lucky enough to have him as your lab instructor you will see that his teaching style is much different when there are less people in the room. He takes time to explain everything and does not seem so rushed. Know his office hours and visit him with any problem. Bring a tape recorder to class--there are way too many notes for anybody's hands! Bring your book to class and highlight--his notes come straight from the text.
Exams: The tests were graded pretty fairly, but Cobb does not scale the grades very much. 4 or 5 points is the ABSOLUTE highest number of points that will ever be added to your test grade.
Homework: Read every day and study every night. Bring questions to class or at least to his office for answers.
Textbook: Visit the textbook web site for helpful study tools and review material--I only wish that I had been able to use this resource more.

This professor is AWESOME!!!! I think he was very clear and helpful. He is funny too and he isn't trying to be. Most people probably fail his class, but if you are a self-disciplined person you will succeed. Dr. Cobb doesn't hand out A's but he makes them very reachable! I love this class and Dr. Cobb!!!!
Exams: Many people thought the tests were worded difficult, I thought the test were worded great. I made an A on every one of them and most of the time over a 100. Of course you have to study, I mean its anatomy. People say it is hard, but I thought anatomy was easy. There will be review sheets given for each test. That is not enough. Read your book, do the quizzes online, and complete the study guide. Dr. Cobb is always open to help so just ask!
Homework: No homework is required. If you want to make a good grade, you have to study. What helped me was reviewing it after every class and then making detailed note cards to study when I wasn't busy. Overall this cut down on studying alot when the test came around.
Textbook: The text was very helpful! Whenever I didn't understand something I would go to my book and it made it very clear.

Dr. Cobb is a wonderful man if you are interested in knowing him on a personal level. However, he is an impossible teacher. You can study every word that he says and read like hell and you will still barely hold on to a C. I am struggling through this class and hoping and praying for a C. There is just too much material to study in between tests. If there were more tests over less material I think that you might stand a better chance. If you get Dr. Cobb for anatomy and physiology, and you will, be prepared to study every day of the semester and for goodness sake do not take any other classes because you will not have time for them.
Exams: The tests were EXTREMELY hard. There were 3 tests throughout the semester over ALOT of material that took FOREVER to study for. Then the final was COMPREHENSIVE and very hard.
Homework: READING every single night of your life.
Textbook: Get the book!!!!!!!! You will never ever ever pass this course without that textbook. You must read it and read it every night. Sleep with it under your pillow and pray pray pray that it will sink into your head even in your sleep

Anatomy is not an easy subject. A lot of people think they can sit in class and print off the notes and be fine. it requires a lot more studying. you have to acutally know the material, not just memorize it, otherwise you'll never understand the concepts at the end of the semester. Dr cobb was amazing, he really helped out and his powerpoint notes were very clear. he pulled most of the test from his powerpoint slides, but some questions were from the book. You have to be very familar with the notes and the book, dont just rely on one. If you doesnt know something, he will flat out say i dont know, not try to make something up to sound good, or like he is the smartest person ever. He is a wonderful teacher, and i really enjoyed the class.
Homework: we had to know all of the suffixes and prefixes in the back of the book, it was worth a total of 50 points at the end of the year, very easy, broken up into 10 quizzes. really helped out your grade.
Textbook: i also bought the cliffs note anatomy book, it was a good third reference. also my lab instructor had notes that were good for lecture and lab.

Dr. Cobb was very confusing and simply just read slide after slide while presenting information that he thought was important. There were several moments where he would say that some of the information he was saying would not be on the test he just thought it would be interesting. At times he could grasp the class attention but for the most part he couldn't. The majority of the class only attended on test days and on an average lecture there were maybe 30 out of 150+ in the class. If Dr. Cobb could teach in an effective manner then i would strongly urge you to take him. However if you are looking for a professor that will read slides word for word and make you responsible for every bit of information from the slides and the book, which is never brought to class anyway, then Dr. Cobb is the professor for you. Otherwise i strongly urge students to stay away and if he is all that is left open then i suggest you postpone anatomy and physiology for a semeseter.

Pros: He answers questions and explains thoroughly
Cons: doesn't post grades fast
doesn't post notes timely
He is adorable, first off. I have a huge crush on him and I love the way he says "thur" in his country accent.
He is just a great professor. The tests are HARD! This girl who sits beside me comes off as super smart and she made a 40-something on the last exam. I made a 78, but I don't study as well as most. He doesn't require us to use the book but it helps! He will say something/repeat it in class if it'll be on the test, sometimes spelling it as if he's hinting to you that's what it means. He has the notes on his website and you print them out and take them to class. He goes by them but sometimes will tell you to leave slides out which is awesome because it's a few less pieces of info, right?!
Don't take this class if you're a slacker. YOU. WILL. NOT. MAKE IT.
Also - he is so sweet but he doesn't like attitude. He loves when you respond, ask questions, and make comments. Love him!!!

Dr. Cobb is a nice person but hard teacher to understand. His notes are not as detailed as his test. Our class was behind all semester, so he would try to cram at the last minute to finish as much as he could. He told us we would have 10 pop quizzes worth 5pts each, but only had 5/10. We never even started the two final chapters, but they were on the final. He did provide a study guide for each test, but gave a warning that they may not help with the test. He also told our class, before we were about to take a test, the test is really hard, but you can work through it. I studied countless hours for each of his test and still found them difficult. If you want to understand the information on the power point you need the text book. Everyone who sat near me and i knew had trouble with his test and quizzes. You have to been really dedicated with a lot of time to study for his class. Anatomy is already hard enough but he made it a bit harder than it had to be.

Dr. Cobb is a VERY nice guy, but he is downright confusing. This class is hard enough as it is, and when you ask him questions, he can't ever give an exact answer. He either gets confused himself or gives you a long, drawn-out explanation that confuses you more. His PowerPoint notes are needed, but they aren't as detailed & you need to read no matter what because there are tons of things on the tests that are not in the notes.
Exams: Tests were worded very odd. Some of the questions were extremely confusing & there were always things on the tests you didn't expect. The study guide is more of a guideline... do NOT only study that or you won't pass!! READ every chapter on ur tests... more than once if u have time... because the PP notes/study guide is not as helpful as it should be. Also, there is no curve or extra credit.
Homework: None. Just STUDY!
Textbook: Never was used in class, but very necessary to study for the tests & pass the class.
