Pros: You get tons of free material to help you teach your class.
You learn great ways to have a dynamic classroom.
Cons: The tests and projects are pretty difficult.
I loved Dr. C. Take her if you want to be a great teacher.

I do not like biology, but Dr. C made the class enjoyable and I did learn a lot from her. It is a very hard class. I did pull out an A, but not because I did well on any one test. I did ALL the extra credit that she made available. She grades using a point system and in the end I had enough points to get an A. I hated the resource box and do not see that it will be of very much value when I start to teach. The tests are VERY thorough. You have to know and be able to apply the information, you can't just memorize the information for her tests. I would recommend Dr. C, but be willing to work hard the entire semester if you want a good grade.
Exams: Tests were extremely difficult even if you studied. It seems that she purposely tries to trick you. She would sometimes give partial credit for essay answers. She was very paticular about what she was looking for in the answers and really was not fair when grading.
Homework: Various types of homework were given. A resource box full of materials that are accumulated throughout the semester is due at the end of the semester. I would hightly recommend working on this throughout the ENTIRE semester and not waiting until the last min. She also gave 2 digital projects, something else I would NOT wait until the last min. to finish. She gives optional extra credit..DO IT!
Textbook: She recommended buying an old biology textbook to use at home. I never did and really never needed it. She presents and hands out all the materials that you will need in class.

Pros: She actually TEACHES! Imagine that!
Students actually RETAIN the information...even those students with poor grades learn and retain in this class. She is by far the most fair, most ethical, hardest working professor I have ever had the pleasure of learning from! She truly sets the standard for the "characteristics of a good teacher."
It's simple really, if we had more teachers like Dr. C public education in our country would be a better platform for teaching students how to think rather than what to think. She isn't about fluff! Remember future teachers: You are here to learn so take advantage of the example she sets...you will not find a better instructor who cares more about your education! She and I didn't hit it off in the begining but what I took from her class was just what I needed to be a better teacher. Her class is about so much more than biology. Be ready to LEARN not work!

Pros: you receive alot of material you can use in your class room and there are lots of assignments that help boost your grade.
Cons: she takes off points for everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dr. c is one of those teachers that emails you UMTEEN times a day with crap!! she really tries to be organized but with the amount of work that she gives us, its probably impossible! she lets her TA grade the majority of your stuff and the TA takes off points for every little thing. when you comfront dr. c about the points taken off, she basically tells you you're not gonna get the points back. on one of her exams (which not to mention, her exams are insane and they take up all of the 2 hours we have in that class), everyone in our class missed one question and she refused to give us the point back like a normal professor would do. she pulls assignments out her butt and gives them to us all while we're having to study for one of her insane tests, work on our resource box, and TRY to stay organized and keep our sanity in her class. speaking of resource boxes, prepare to spend a lot of time and money on it and ask 100 questions about it. had our class not drilled her about everything that she required on the resource box rubric, we would have all gotten points taken off because she is so vague about everything she wants us to have in it. we have to laminate the majority of the stuff in our resource boxes which also costs money (but just go to walmart and buy contact paper in the kitchen isle. $5 a pop and its way faster & cheaper than laminating). its not just myself that feels the way i do about dr. c, its the entire class. i'm passing with a B but i have worked my rear end off for a B. i just don't recommend dr. c if you have to take this class!!!!!!

Pros: you do get alot of materials from this class that you can use in your own classroom. there are lots of extra credit opportunities
Cons: the amount of work she gives us is ridiculous. you will spend ALOT of money in this class.
dr c is a good professor who knows her stuff. she will give you a syllabus that has a list of assignments on it but she throws in extra assignments that ARENT on the syllabus that require alot of time. you have to have a resource box for this class where you collect/buy things to put in it and create activity packs to use in the classroom. the resource box takes ALOT of your money. we are constantly buying things for the resource box because at the last minute she tells us that we have to have more of what we originally thought would be needed in the resource box. the syllabus is kind of a big mess of words that isnt really made clear what all we have to have for each assignment. she grades really hard on your resource box and exams. she will take off points for any little thing. the amount of work she has us doing for this class is ridiculous! however, you can make a good grade in the class because there are so many assignments and extra credit points, but just expect to be working REALLY HARD for the grade that you want. if you're looking for an easy A, this is not the teacher to take. she is readily available outside of the class and shes really good at emailing you back.

Dr. C is a good teacher. You will come out of the class with a ton of knowledge about science. She has good enthusiasm about her subject. The thing about her is that she won't meet every student's needs. She likes to be needed. Stroke her ego some, and that may help your grade. It has kind of a third grade feel when she teaches, things can get repetitive. Stay organized, Stroke her ego, Stay on task, Stay focused, and Pass the Tests!!!!!!
Exams: Dr.C will try to trip you up on test questions, it will make you second guess yourself. I knew the material very well, but the wording of the questions at times were confusing. Pay very close attention to the questions, or else you may fail.
Homework: There were various assignments that were given. Some required minor research. The assignments were fun and allowed you to gain lots of knowledge. The resource box was the main assignment. It is designed to have teacher ready materials for classroom use one day. She will warn you to spend as little money as possible, but you will end up spending a little bit. You get books filled with lesson plans to teach various science lessons. Lots of freebies!
Textbook: A cheap Biology book will do. There is no standard one. You can find cheap ones at bookbyte.com

Dr. C is a good teacher in the classroom. She knows lots of tricks to remembering things and will give you lots of things that you will use in your classroom. But she is not at all fair in her grading process. I worked very hard and learned a lot in this class and should have gotten a better grade. She does not realize that we are going to be elementary and middle school teachers NOT Bioligist or Scientist. If you want to get the points you deserve, go to her office or e-mail at least the day before you turn in assignments. Chances are she has added or changed what the requirements are. She welcomes students into her office. If you can find a different teacher for this class go for it. If not, be prepared to work really hard and not get an A.
Exams: Test and Assignments are graded very unfairly. She expects the work of a Scientist. Be very detailed. Get on her good side, tell her how much you love biology your test will be graded less strictly.
Homework: Lots of outside work. Journals and experiments that must be done outside of class and completed using scientic method. Graded unfairly!
Textbook: She will metion readings and they Will be on the test.

Pros: I really can not think of any Pros for this woman.
Cons: You will feel like you are being treated like a child, or with less respect than most children get!
"Dr. C" is the most obnoxious "teacher" I have ever experienced in my life. She is demeaning, rude, and fake. She will belittle you in front of anyone and everyone. Her "knowledge" is nothing more than her opinions and she is full of crap. She insisted that it is illegal to show movies in a classroom, then turned around and showed us one. She tries her hardest to intimidate students by making them think they are stupid and she is the all knowing. Get ready to spend 2 hours on each test and you wont do well on them, no matter how hard you study. She assigns a RIDICULOUS amount of course work/projects and they are VERY costly. She is nothing more than some pathetic excuse for a teacher that gets off on being a Bitch to her students. But don't worry,if you're an ass kisser, you will do just fine. More than 5 people have dropped since the beginning of the semester, if you find yourself in her class, I suggest you do the same and take Dr. Kelly.

Dr C absolutely loves her job. She is my kind of teacher. She knows that sitting in her class for 2 hours can be boring so she gives breaks and she doesn't just lecture to you for the entire class period. The class is very hands-on and full of demonstrations and experiments. You do have to create a science box but it is something that will be very ressourceful for you when you are out teaching on your own. She gives you fun things to do and make on the overhead before each class. I recommend making a notebook/journal of these. I am sure they will come in handy when you are teaching and you are broke and need a good recipe for play dough or something. I love Dr C but do be prepared to have to work in order to earn your grade. She doesn't just give them out!
Exams: The tests were not in the form of you could memorize the answers, you actually have to know the material in order to succeed.
Homework: Just little projects/experiments, reading
Textbook: You just use a recent (within 5 years) high school biology textbook...buy one used for like 10 bucks!

She is really nice, and she is really energetic. She makes class very fun, and will work with you. She is very understanding, but make sure you ask questions. She pays attention to that. You will have a lot of work, but it's fun work with lesson planning and what not. You also have 2 digital projects, and they will drive you nuts (growing mold, tree observation). Also a resource box...which is gonna get to you. However, she's a great teacher and keeps your attention!
Exams: She will look to see how every1 did on them, and if there was one that was commonly missed you would give points for it. Also bonus question. However, you needed to really pay attention and read your supplemental text because they are application tests.
Homework: No homework (However, we did have to observe mold--or do a animal book, or read a ws--that's all).
Textbook: She doesn't REQUIRE a text, but she says you need to have a textbook that is no more than 10 years old. Get it oNLINE instead of paying for it. It will be used some.

Pros: You do actually learn.
Cons: This class is ridiculous.
Dr. C is a hard professor to rate. You do actually learn in her class, however I would not recommend her. She's tends to be rude, blunt and incredibly difficult. If you do end up in her class check your email often, she will send you an absurd amount of emails. My main complaint is the amount of money you have to spend. You are required to create a resource box, which would be fine however everything in it is science related (what if you don't want to teach science?!) and it costs a LOT of money. She will tell you it doesn't, trust me it does. You will spend at least $100, likely more. In addition you have to do professional development, which also costs anywhere from $10-$25. My "professional development" consisted of roaming around a park for 6 hours - not fun or professional. Lastly her GTA grades everything, and is just as difficult as she is.

Absolutly! I think that she is a great teacher that always keeps your attention. I learned so much in that class.
Exams: I felt the test were really hard. She is very technical in what she is looking for. I would study two to three hours for the test and got a C. I did better on the test when I didn't study so hard.
Homework: You have to complete a box by the end of the semester. She has all kinds of little projects for you do to at home. You also have to attend a science educational class. There is also a digital portfolio assignment due at the end of the semester. LOTS OF WORK!!!!
Textbook: She recommended buying a biology coloring book. Don't buy it use an old biology book. The old biology book was more helpful than that biology coloring book. It was a waste of money.

Pros: She is very organized, and will answer any question you have. She is easily reached by e-mail. She is fair, and a very nice person.
Cons: Sometimes the number of e-mails sent are overwhelming to keep up with the information. The tests will include information from the resource text that ma not necessarily given in class.
This is a four hour course and you will be very busy. All the work is great preparation for classroom teaching. The number of projects were overwhelming at times during the semester, but well worth it in the end.
She is very nice and personable. She will push you to reach your best.

She can seem tough but obviously loves her subject. Don't wait till the last minute to do any long-term assignment (resource box, powerpoint/plant growth) Ask questions... or get a poor grade. ("Be the student you hope to have in class someday!")
Exams: pay attention to the papers she hands out, they contain lots of information to help you review for tests. Draw pics on essays to explain concepts more clearly!!
Homework: few simple assignments...check emails daily! She sends info through these about assignments and websites to help with tests.
Textbook: cheap used biology textbook.

It is a lot of work that often seems pointless and a waste of time. Overall I left the class feeling overwhelmed and worn out. My grades was no reflection of how hard I worked.
Exams: If you did bad on the test she would leave a wonderful "boo-yuck" on your paper with a sad face. Yeah really good encouragment to do better.
Homework: She would send out random e-mails to print off and bring to class. You also had to complete 2 digital projects and make a future "use in the classroom" resource box.
Textbook: You can buy them for 30 cents on amazon or borrow one from her.

Pros: She loves her job and does make the class time enjoyable! I learned a lot in this class probably the most i have in college and sadly my grade doesn't reflect that.
Cons: exams are extremly hard and there is always some type of project due. I would not recommend taking this class if you have a heavy work load semester it is very time consuming.
I learned a lot but not sure I would recommend her. I don't think it is fair that I have learned so much in this class my grade reflects that I slacked the whole semester which was not the case.
