This was a great survey class. Although he spends the entire class period talking while you write down everything he says (I recommend a tape recorder for this class), the information is always interesting and he is happy to answer any and all questions. The tests come straight from the notes and he tries to be lenient in his grading. There are only 5 grades in the class; 4 tests on 4 different religions (the last being the final exam - noncomprehensive) and a 8 - 10 page research paper. He does not give very much guidance on the paper, but he is also very lenient on the due date. I'd say get it done sooner than later though. I recommend this class if you're interesting in learning the history and background of religions.

If you can take this man...TAKE HIM! He is awesome! I was really scared about this class to begin with, but he came in and he is awesome! Mr. Bisson is from the UK and has an awesome accent! He is also a really good teacher. I learned alot in his class. You take probably six quizzes and a midterm and final. The quizzes are easy, the lowest grade I ever made was a 90 and that is because I didn't study at all. You could prepare for the quizzes in thirty minutes and make a ood grade. His quizzes prepare you for the midterm and the final. So all you have to do is study the quizzes and you will do fine! We had to write a paper and we haven't gotten out grades back, but he is a really easy grader, so it seems as though there is nothing to worry about. He is a great teacher and I would totally recomend him. He is funny and smart and his class is one of the best fifty minutes I spend each monday wednesday and friday. I wouldn't buy the book. He goes over everything you need to know in class, but if you miss a day it is helpful for catching up. The only downside to the class is that he does keep you almost the whole time, but his accent keeps you awake and interested!

I would give six or seven stars if I could. Although he is not usually on time for class, he makes up for it with the vast amount of information he teaches in easy-to-understand methods. His explanations make perfect sense and relevance to the notes that he provides. Also, he encourages class discussion to make the class even MORE interesting. His tests are 100% fair, which means that if you review the given information, you will do well on tests. Not only that, but if you are not sure of any questions when taking the test, just put ANYTHING you know about that general question and you may receive some credit. I plan to take this professor for ALL of my religion classes in the future, and even plan to minor in Religion because he has presented all of this material in a very interesting and captivating way.

Mr. Bisson is an AMAZING teacher!! I took him twice: Intro to Religion and World Religions II. I made well over a 90 on every test and barely studied for any of them. He some how seems to make what could be boring interesting. He does not get upset if you miss his class although the syllabus says he does. He is always willing to help you out. His test are so easy. He does not grade you on accuracy, he grades you on what you can remember from the notes. This is the easiest A in my career at MSU, but also the most interesting A you will earn. He is the sweetest man alive and has the cutest accent ever.

Pros: Great Guy really knows and likes the material, willing and wants to help you
Cons: a bit ambiguous on expectations/ requirement
Bisson is a great teacher. He really enjoys the material and enjoys discussing it with his students. He cares more that you know the material than how well you test over it. That being said, he is a bit ambiguous with his expectations, going into the first test I had no idea how hard or how much I had to study for it, you have to write a research paper (5-8 pages) and that is also a bit ambiguous, but overall he is a fantastic teacher and you should take him if at all possible

He is one of the nicest teachers I have ever had in my life, not just at state, but my entire school career. The quizzes (there
's 8 or 9) are easy, and once you get the quizzes back, you can use them to study for the midterm and final, which are the only test-- but they are so easy. The questions on the midterm and final actually came from the quizzes, so if you study just the quizzes, you're almost guranteed an A. He is a really nice guy. I would reccomend him to anyone who wants to learn and who wants an easy A. Also, his British accent and humor make his lectures interesting and funny.

great guy.. fun accent to listen to while taking notes (that is, if u ever go to class..) i went to maybe 2 classes between each test (sometimes just one) & always made ok on them. with a little studying & attendance, an a or b isnt hard to get. his test have matching, short answer and usually one big discussion question. since i barely went to class, i just read the book on each chapter before the test & studied the study guides that he emailed out & did fine. i shoulda gone to class more b/c it isnt bad at all. he does take attendace, altho im not sure why...but take him, the guys cool.

This is a great class for an elective. It is very interesting since Dr Bisson is a such very smart guy. There is a paper you have to do but it is nothing to worry about. he tells you what you need to know for the test. They are short answer but as long as your write something you will get some credit. He is one the few teachers who actually seems more concerned with teaching and less about just getting things done and giving tests. I believe his classes are what college is supposed to be like and not the money grubbing suck fest educational wal-mart that it has become.

Dr. Bisson was an amazing professor! It's hard to find a teacher as good as him. I took this class during Summer 1 Term of 2011. We had a few summaries to turn in that consisted of us summarizing a few chapters of the textbook. We had maybe 3 tests, which were multiple choice and short answer. All the coursework was incredibly easy. Dr. Bisson makes you want to come to class. It was an interesting class! Lot of notes, but it's well worth it. He is entirely approachable in and out of the classroom. Take Dr. Bisson for anything, you will not be disappointed!

Pros: Very interesting and nice man
Cons: none
Dr. Bisson is one of the kindest people on this campus. He teaches you the material, but he doesn't make the class difficult at all. He also grades super easy. I never made less than a 100 on any test he gave. He speaks slowly and repeats the information he wants you to know or write down. I would highly recommend taking this professor if you want to learn something about religion, take a really easy class, and get to know the nicest man ever. His classes usually fill up though so sign up as soon as possible.

Very good teacher, I have taken him for 3 classes. I am not one of those religious people that live and breath religion so i was worried about my first class. He is not preachy and doesn't try to convert you. You learn about Religion in intro. You learn about Religious facts in World. He does not teach from his point of view, he will often bring up issues from every side of the fence to stimulate discussion. I liked World better then intro, but they were all good. If your thinking about taking him take him, its that simple

Albert Bisson is one of the best teachers I have had at State. I still can't get over his amazing British accent (it makes you want to listen). Every day we had very interesting and open minded discussions in his class and he made the material very interesting (which is important for this class). His tests were discussion test, and I know this sounds bad, but you actually wanted to tell him what you knew. He gives extra credit if you add stuff he likes or has never heard. A great teacher and very fun class!

Great teacher. He is more concerned about what you actually learn than written test. If you make an A on all the test but one. This one test was the exception because I had two other test and a paper due in other classes. Because i had nearly perfect class attendance, i still received an A. If you attend class and take good notes, the book is not necessary; however, if you don't attend class, you can get by reading the book. Final exam exemption is granted if you chose to watch a paper.

I took multiple classes under professor Bission (Philosophy of Religion, Western Church to 1600, World Religions II, and Seminar in Philosophy) I earned A's in all the classes. He gives a lot of notes, but most of them are just used to reiterate a point. All of his tests come from the notes. He gives extra credit on exams if you write something (in detail) that he did not cover on the exam. I highly recommend any of his classes. They are very educational and entertaining.

This class was a breeze. Dr. Bisson gives bonus points for extra information on tests so be sure to load it down with all kinds of things, even if it was never discussed in class. If it is valid and there is a good point then you will get bonus pts. I think I made a 114 on one test. Dr. Bisson is a great professor, and has a wealth of knowledge. He has a great spirit and always said he would enjoy just talking over a cup of coffee if you had questions. Best of Luck

Pros: Very interesting class. Its my major but anyone can take it. I definitely recommend this class for one of your Humanity credits. Bisson is an awesome teacher and just an amazing person. He makes you think and participate because you want to. Totally awesome class and professor.
Cons: A few length notes but no big deal.
Very lenient grader, very interesting topic, very awesome teacher. He is what made my experience at Mississippi State so enjoyable.

Mr. Bisson is a whoot!! He is very understanding and nice. He makes class very interesting and explains the material great. Test and easy if you PAY ATTENTION and READ OVER NOTES/STUDY. He grades you on what you have learned rather than this is the only right answer. The book is unnecessary. Attendance is important because he goes back to see who came to class and who missed a certain amount of days. I thoroughly enjoyed his class.

Mr. Bisson was a wonderful teacher! He always walks in with a smile, and was a very easy grader. The tests come straight from the notes you take in class, but be prepared because they're almost all short answer.. but he lets you redeem yourself by putting anything extra you learned at the end of the test, and thats the key to making a really good grade! write everything and anything you remember! i would recommend him any day!

Bisson is amazing! He has a cool accent too. But he teaches the materials well but you need to get notes from someone who has taken it too. It helps. Bisson's test are incredibly easy. I studied the day of and B.S.ed my way through it and had an A. At the end of the test he asks what you have learned. Write whatever pops in your head and give an opinion for sure. If you do that then you will have an A. Take him.

Albert Bisson is the sweetest teacher ever! His class is SO very easy. It is almost impossible not to make 100 on every test. Classes can get kind of boring and there is LOTS of writing, but you need to go to get the notes because the tests come straight from the notes. Do not buy the book! He is the nicest teacher and i would very strongly recommend him if you need an easy A!
