Hai Dang ROCKS!!!

He knows his math up and down the street. However, he understands that we don't, so he TEACHES. He uses class time wisely, rarely going over and never wasting time. All, without notes.

I don't think that his tests are too easy. If you ace his tests, you know the math. The high grades in his class aren't indicative of a lazy teacher. They show that his students leave, knowing the material.

Besides, not all of his tests are easy. His final for DE was pretty unbelievable. My entire class agreed on the following phrase: ""Dang mathed the f*ck out of us."" (A couple of us think that he was just showing off).

He and Bill England are the best professors in the department. I would take England to learn theory and history. Take Dang to learn to do and apply the math (all engineers will love Dang. He's gives you the theory that you need, but concentrates on doing the math).

Hai Dang is the man. I would take him for every class I could.

(This class was actually taken in Summer 2011)

Hai Dang is probably my favorite math teacher that I've had at state so far. He's extremely thorough, he's always on time, and he's pretty hilarious. He also doesn't mind when people ask him to explain something that's not specifically what he's teaching (like, something from Cal 2 or even linear algebra), unlike other teachers (I'm looking at you Okyuhsen).

He always has a review day before his tests that covers almost exactly what will be on it, generally working through one of each kind of problem. However, despite all this, his tests are pretty damn difficult. His final was comprehensive and took the better part of three hours.

Overall, I think I actually *learned* more in his DE class than any other math class. I would definitely recommend him. (Just watch out for his tests!)

Pros: A math guy who understands engineers!

Brilliant, nice, great teacher.

Good sense of humor.

Cons: None that I can think of.
Hai Dang is freaking awesome - a nice, funny guy who is an amazing teacher. He breaks down complicated things so elegantly, it's amazing. Like most engineering students, I just want to know how it works, but when he shows a proof, it actually contributes. I was lucky enough to have him for Cal I (probably only because it was summer) but from what I've heard he is THE MAN for DE.

Some people say that he teaches an easy class, but that's not really it. It's not that he skimps on material or goes easy on you. He's just a great teacher, and so you gain a better understanding of the material, which is reflected in your grades. That's a rare quality, and I highly recommend him.

I took Dr. Dang for Summer 2009. He is a GREAT teacher. He is fun to listen to and even though summer classes are supposed to be an hour and fifty minutes long, if we finished what we needed to do, we would go early. We never stayed the whole time. 'Usually got out thirty minutes early. If you can work the examples he gives in class and the review problems he gives before a test, you will be just fine. I found DE easier than Cal 2 and 3. Dr. Dang wants everyone to understand and explains the material very well. He may ask you to go work a problem on the board, but he will help you through it. For the final know how to work any problem on the old tests. I wish I would have taken him for my Calculus classes. He's awesome.

Dr. Dang is an excellent teacher I recommend to anyone who can possibly take him.

Very well prepared, will usually lecture for 50 minutes without looking at notes or book. Not sure why easy tests is such a bad thing. Very friendly inside and out of class. Doesn't take roll, but does know everybody's name somehow. Is hard to understand at times, but in the whole picture a very, very minor problem.

Tests are usually Friday, he does a review class on Wednesday and literally tells you what will be tested and what will not be tested. Works example problems and everything. Tests are just basically ex. probs with numbers changed.

Excellent teacher.

Professor Dang is a great teacher. I took him summer of 2010. He teaches whats going to be on the test and does this where everyone can understand it. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to go to class to learn the material and get the homework. If you study and pay attention in class this is a class that shouldn't have to many stumbling blocks.(That does not mean it is an easy class though.) A TI-89 is also helpful. This class involves and lot of integrals and derivatives and this calculator just helps speeds things up. I also had him for Cal. 3 and he did a fine job with this class as well. I believe he is one of the better math teachers in the math department and recommend him to all.

Hai Dang is an excellent teacher. He explains the material well and is very thorough, which is what really matters. He writes everything up on the board, and it is in your best interest to write everything on the board in your notes, as frequently it will show up on the test. I took him in the summer, and it was definitely fast-paced, but if you payed attention, did the homework assigned at the end of each class (before the tests or immediately), and studied a day or two beforehand, you were fine. He has a great sense of humor, and is helpful outside of class if you seem to be struggling on a topic. Highly recommend.

Dang is a wonderful teacher. He explains each new topic, usually by deriving the equations, and then works a simple example for each equation. He often asks students to work problems on the board as well.

He reviews well for each test and assigns homework that helps with understanding the topics discussed in class.

His class requires work(do the homework assigned), but is not stressful at all if properly prepared for. He is in his office often and will help however he can.

Again, he is a fantastic teacher, and I would take him for all my math classes if possible!

Dr. Dang is easily one of the best teachers in the math department. He explains the concepts in terms that everyone can understand. Not much theory. He mostly did examples and applications. Do not be afraid to ask questions. He wants to make sure everyone is with the program before he goes on.

The exams are not too bad if you go over the review he gives and work some of the non-graded homework. Be forewarned. His final is HARD. Even if you don't do too great on it, it shouldn't hurt your grade too bad. If you work for an A, you'll get it.

I would suggest him to everyone.

BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAS IN MY LIFE!!!!!! He takes a hard class and makes it as easy to understand as he can. He is Asian, but he has very good English. You will not have trouble understanding him. Also, his since of humor is very sarcastic. It cracks me up. The only thing you need to watch out for is his final. It is ineradicably hard, so the strategy to his class is to do really well on the test, so that bombing the final won't hurt you as bad. Like, I had an A, but the final brought me down to a B. :( But aside from this, Dr. Dang is one of the coolest people I know.

He has done what I have seen no math teacher do. He explains the material in a clear systematic way, he makes the material very easy to understand. He teaches the same way, every day, so you will not see any surprises.

He reviews before every test, and the test is just like the review. The final covered all three of the tests, and was a moderate challenge. DO the homework. If you do not, you will get lost. He assigns it every day, and is always very nice about answering questions. Dr. Dang is a very nice man in general. It was a pleasure to be taught by him.

Dr. Dang was probably the best math teacher that I have had at MSU. Diff eq. was not an easy class, but Dr. Dang explained it well. He basically tells you what to expect on his tests too and if you do your homework and don't wait until the night before the tests to study then you should be able to make an A or B in the class. He is also very easy to talk to and willing to help out after class if you need to go to his office for any assistance. I would highly recommend him for any math class that you need to take at MSU. Avoid Betty Scarborough and Gertrude Okyouisson.

They made a A, A in the class.

Dr. Dang is pretty good. He has an accent but is easy to understand. He explains stuff pretty well. My only beef with him is I think his tests are too easy. He will cover some pretty advanced material and then make the test so that pretty much everyone can make an A. The lowest grade on one of the tests was a 70. A big reason they are so easy is that he tells you exactly what is on it and then just changes the numbers. Overall, I like Dang, just wish he challenged his students a bit more.

Dr. Dang is the best teacher in the mathematics department. And who in their right mind complains about a teacher being too easy, not that he is. His class is just as hard as it would be if any other ""professor"" in the math department was teaching it. And by the way, T. NO ONE cares about what you think. You're parents should have taught you that if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all. But wait T., I forgot about that kind of people you associate with, typical, typical.

Hai Dang is a great teacher! I would definitely take him if I were you! It takes a minute to get used to his accent, but he really speaks great English. He does not use webassign.. he just assigned homework out of the text book. Do the homework! It will help a lot! Dr. Dang is goofy and always cracked us up in class. He will answer millions of questions and really wants to help if you don't understand. I took him in the summer, and he really liked giving a few extra bonus points on all of his tests :)

Teacher prepared well for class, so well that we never got out a minute early! Not even the last day of the semester. He does his best to explain but does not see if everyone understands. The tests are not half as hard as the homework. He gives a review before each test which turns out to be very similar to the test itself, so that is a plus. The book is not required but you should work your homework problems and attendance is not checked but you should come everyday or else you will be extremely LOST!

Dr. Dang is an excellent teacher. He explains the material so well, and he doesn't give you a lot of material in one day. He does take a day before the test to review and it helps a lot. The test is fairly easy, but each test have a couple of challenging questions. If you really pay attention in class you will answer it correctly. I really enjoyed his class, and he is sometimes humorous so it is not a boring class. I would advise anyone to take him.

TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! He teaches the whole class without notes usually. You will learn the material and if you put in effort make a good grade. And something else others have no mentioned, his personality is a pleasure to be around. He is personable with the students. Oh, and go to class. He doesnt' take role but he WILL know your name (just wait till he hands back test...it will shock you) and it may matter if you are border line for a grade.

Dont let anyone fool you. Dr. Dang is very smart. I have taken around 10 different teachers in the department and I think he is one of the best instructors. Other teachers just give him grief because the students like him. Most other instuctors should just worry about their teaching strategies and try to be on a more personal level with the students.

Hai Dang is a great Calculus teacher. He has a bit of an accent but is easily understood. I took Calc I & II with him over the summer and thought it was going to be very rough. The class was fast paced, but he gave many examples which helped tremendously. His tests were hard, but fair. I'd definately recommend taking him. He has a great personality too and will make you laugh.
