HIST 1010
Western Civilization I
5*****
Pros: She gives a complete exam study guide with everything that will be on the exam the week before the exam - if it is studied then the exam is rather simple, but it requires looking up the terms on the study guide and knowing them. Simply outstanding instructor and answers email promptly. If you read the chapters and halfway study, you'll do well in her online history classes.
Cons: Online classes do require studying and the student must be motivated to get one chapter per week completed or else it is very easy to fall behind.
Online Western Civ HIST 1010 uses West in the World textbook. One chapter each week with a 10 question multiple choice quiz due each week onine. After 4 chapters there is an Exam at the testing center on location at the school. Two projects due in her class and both are essays and announced on the syllabus. She gives the info for the project the week before it's due, but her grading is very lax and she will allow a rewrite for a better grade if needed.

HIST 1020
Western Civilization II
5*****
Pros: Grading is less strict than other professors, gives exam study guides a week before exams, will allow rewrites on an essay for a better grade
Cons: Online instructor does require that one chapter each week be read and a quiz taken each week on that chapter, but quizzes are simple if chapter has been read
I have had K. Johnston for Western Civ I and II both online and she is an outstanding instructor and answers email quickly. She does everything she can to make history fun - and actually it is quite interesting with the one chapter each week - which is not a great burden of study for any class. Sometimes an essay and a chapter due in a week is a push, but no more than any other college class. Her grading is curved generously and any student who gives this class a fair amount of effort will do quite well with her.
