American History I

Dr. Hinton is an excellent professor. She really loves what she does and does a great job interacting with her students and clarifying herself. The exams are all essay oriented, but a study guide is provided a week in advance and a day of class is used to answer any questions regarding the material covered. There are also three journal assignments; a list of articles from the Eyewitness to America book is given and you are to write short responses on them once you've read them. There is only one quiz (multiple choice) and it is over the novel The Killer Angels which you have nearly the entire semester to read. Overall excellent professor!

Pros: BEST PROFESSOR!! TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASSES YOU CAN. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HER. SHES THE IDEAL TEACHER IF THERE WAS ONE. SHE HELPS YOU IN ANY WAY, EMAILS BACK QUICKLY, VERY NICE, FUNNY, MAKES HISTORY INTERESTING, GREAT CLASS, TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT SHE WANTS ON TESTS, HARDLY ANY WORK OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM. TAKE HER :)

HIST 4350
Gender Studies: The History of Masculinity
5*****
Pros: --The in-class project for this class was actually quite fun--assignment consisted of reading a few light selections out of a pulp fiction book, and creating your own story by noting particular stereotypes, vocabulary common for this genre. Got a better idea of some of the gender issues in the 1920s/30s/40s.
