Dr. Allen is probably the top economist professor at the University, both with tenure and knowledge. His teaching isn't very dramatic but he will lighten the mood from time to time with a funny story. Now, why his class is one of the most avoided classes is because the tests are HARD, potentially the most difficult tests I've ever taken, and your entire grade is based on three tests (no final). If you're just an extremely good test taker and really want to learn econ 202 inside and out then take the class, but if you're looking for an easy A or B, do not enroll in this course, it will eat you alive.

I didnt buy the book for this class. make sure you go to class and take notes and then make sure you understand everything thing on the previous tests and youll get an A in the class. but dont just memorize the tests because he changes subtle things that will throw you off. if you have less than 3 absences for the semester you get two extra points at the end of the semester

He is a really good prof if you want to learn, but if you're like the rest of us and just want an easy class; then I would reconsider. He is pretty tough. I got a C by the hair on my...Oh and by the way, he gives you points for not missing more than 3 days, and his TA counts.

Professor Allen is very passionate about his teaching. He has a very dry sense of humor and makes corny jokes in class all the time. His exams are basically all the same & are very comparable to his past exams, which are available at the bookstore.

Allen is tough, but an alright prof. His tests are really tricky, so you have to know what you're talking about when you walk into the class. He is pretty boring in class, and he takes attendance for extra credit.

Allen likes what he teaches, So he tries his best to relate it to real-life events. I would take this teacher again. If you go to the help sessions he reccommends throughout the semester, they will help you a lot.

Pros: Dr. Allen definitely knows his stuff. He's a very experienced professor and gives plenty of examples and clear explanations during lecture. He tends to joke every once in a great while during lecture to keep the mood light. I would
Cons: Definitely not an electrifying professor. Also if you are looking to get help from him, his office is extremely far away from the main part of campus.
The test are pretty tough. He'll try to trick you on a few of the problems, but as long as you go to class, take good notes, and take/study his old tests, you should get at least a B.

Pros: he gives you the last 4 semesters exams for each exam. Just study those no final
Cons: he's hard to hear he's super boring attendance is mandatory if you want 2 bonus points at the end not a good teacher
maybe if I had put a little more work into this class I could have done better. 3, 40 question tests. if you end up having to take him, just bring something to entertain yourself with in class, it will bore you to death. He's not the worst prof, but I would try to find another one. I liked not having homework though.

Pros: He is knowledgeable, and he seems to care that we do learn. There are only 3 exams and there is no final. No homework, no projects. A little extra credit if you go to class and miss no more than 2 or 3 times.
Cons: The way he goes about teaching the concepts of economics is difficult to follow. He teaches methods in a very complex way, and it is not necessary to do this, as it is not necessarily reflected in the exams.
I would recommend taking someone else if you are looking for a relatively easy class.

Pros: he gives you two points extra credit to your total grade if you don't miss more than 3 classes and often times the tests are graded on a curve
Cons: his lectures can be pretty boring and if you struggle with economics, you'll probably need to see a tutor or just put in a lot more work
