he loves to teach pols. he gets soo excited about what he teaches sometimes. If you pay attention then you will do fine. make sure u read the book and do the key terms.

He is infamous for being the worst poli sci teacher. He rambles to no avail and will go off on so many tangents that it is sooo easy to tune him out. His tests are oddly difficult, but he does give SLIGHT curves.

Generally a terrible professor. His lectures are extremely boring and he tends to ramble and go off on giant tangents. I would not at all recommend taking Dixon's 207 class.

I hated this class. He is a very dry and just states the facts. When taking this class i learned that doing the key terms right when he sends them out gives you a better understanding on what he is talking about. Also it helps alot on the tests. I would not go to 4.0 and go for this class because the notes that they give you are just the key terms (and you score higher if you do them on your own).

This is a State and Local Government class but he talks about mostly national government. I did not like this class because he speaks about a lot of people's heads. He is very enthusiastic but when he gets too happy he rambles on and on about one thing and it takes him a good ten minutes to get back to lecture. I would not have taken him if anyone else would have fit my schedule.

Pros: Really nice guy and really cares about the material he is teaching.
Cons: lectures are boring and he is difficult to understand. Exams are very challenging.
I got C's on the first two exams and then a 97 on the third exam. He's a really nice old guy, he knows his stuff, but he doesn't pause for even a second and he goes from the very beginning to the very end. I'm only getting a B in the class because I go to the S.I. three days a week. This class is not worth the hassle at all. His reviews are really helpful, but they take forever. The organization of the class is very chaotic. Do not take this class. Wait another semester or go to summer school, but do not take this class if you are not prepared to spend all your time focusing on this class. If you like political science and you want to make it your life then you should take a course from Dixon.

Pros: There are only tests; he slightly curves; he cares about what he teaches
Cons: ...There are are only tests; the key terms take impossibly long to do; his lectures are boring; the tests are an odd combination of lecture material and key terms (usually only overlap a little); you have to go to class to get the notes
I took this class my first semester as a freshman and stuck it out despite others' warnings... Now I regret it. I like political science in general (although I am not a poli-sci major), and this class just made me hate it. Listen to what others say and DO NOT TAKE DIXON FOR POLS 207.

Pros: He is some what funny. Some of his jokes are kind of creepy, but you will get a laugh out of them
Cons: He is not that good at teaching. I had him my first semester of freshman year and I hated his class. His tests are hard but he has there key terms reviews he gives you before the exams. They are usually pretty long, but I recommend doing them. I went to the SI sessions all the time so I could understand what was going on. Over all, I would say avoid him at all costs, there are other professors out there who are much better.

GET OUT OF HIS CLASS NOW!!! He is a GREAT teacher if you absolutely LOVE political science. If you are just taking it as a requirement, DO NOT take Dixon! He is confusing and there is so much reading assignments. If you do take him, keep up with your readings and I recommend 4.0 and a lot of people say you don't have to go to class as long as you do the key terms, but I think they are WRONG! Class is a must!

Pros: He's very thorough in his lectures and what he teaches.

He provides notes for you to use and add to during class.

There's an SI for the class
Cons: He forgets that this class is mandatory for everyone in the university, and not just for POLS majors.

The tests are extremely hard and difficult in that I spent about 50 hours the week and a half before to skate by with an 80 for the first test.

Cons: He goes off on tangents and his tests are difficult.
If you do take Dixon, do the key terms, they help you learn what material there is for that exam.

Pros: only tests. Reviews for key terms at 4.0 and if you read and do those pretty much get a decent grade.
Cons: Very hard tests, a lot of work involved and yea would not recommend taking him! Be prepared for a lot of work!
