Awesome prof! Knows what she is talking about and has the facts to back it up. Warning: if you're conservative, dislike opposing viewpoints, or have delicate ears, steer clear. She is more than happy to debate you so long as it is on topic. Her tests can be difficult, so read each chapter at a bare minimum of 2 times; 4 or 5 would be better. Attend lectures; you'll grasp the material better and get a good show if someone tries to argue with her.

She is hard to hear/understand in the big lecture halls unless you sit close to the front. She also goes has a hard time managing time during lectures. This class is a lot of memorization and self teaching. Tests are partially from the lecture, but her lecture is straight from the book, she just adds a few things in here or there.

Pros: Lim doesn't give a final. She usually repeats things over and over to signify that it's going to be on the test. She does many controversial things that makes this class interesting, but may offend people. Finally, she gives some extra credit.
Cons: Her class is pure lecturing, which is a bit bad since she has an accent and often goes on tangents. After the second test, she puts her notes online, but she tends to make up questions during lecture that are not found in the book/slides. The book was a bit dry, so only focus on the graphs and the things she talked about in class.
This class usually isn't interesting to those not majoring in POLS or something related, so the subject itself may be a bit hard to learn. With Lim, knowing the general idea of the graphs and chapters makes this a doable A with some effort. Focus on the stereotypes surrounding politics/races/states and find out which are true and which aren't.

Prof is good though I stopped going to class after the 2nd exam. During the semester I had her she gave us 51 questions each worth 2 points so there was always a 2 point "curve." However, once people stopped showing up for class she took away that curve lol. I made an A but I did have to spend a good deal of time looking at her powerpoints and reading the book several times. If you don't do this you will get a B or C.

It is really hard to understand her sometimes and some of the questions on the tests can have more than one answer. If you read the book along with the lecture notes you will be ok.

Read over notes and book several times before the test, some questions come from lecture and some are obscure details or questions seem to have multiple answers

Don't take the class for granted. It seems really easy at first, but she asks obscure questions on the tests....

She can be hard to understand in a large lecture hall, but she tries to make class entertaining with her sometimes out there comments. She uses powerpoints as a guideline for her lectures. The class can be pretty dull but GO TO CLASS. Alot of people choose not to attend after the first test because it's pretty easy, but she makes them harder throughout the class. Keep up with your textbook reading-reading the chapters multiple times is helpful but not completely necessary to pass. I recommend 4.0 and GO review sessions.Go to class and read the material, otherwise the workload is pretty light.

Pros: She only gives four tests and no final. Her tests are fairly easy if you read the book and take notes. you do not always have to go to class because the material is right out of the book and she goes on rants about things for like 30 minutes at a time. I would recommend her for the required POLS classes. She is the easiest of all the POLS teachers
Cons: She is kind of hard to hear because of her accent but its alright if you sit near the front

Cons: can't understand her at all and she gets so side tracked in class that she ends up going over like 5 slides and thats it, and still expects you to know what she didn't talk about. Also, she says the test will come straight from the book, but I read the chapters every time, and I still could not make higher than a C on the tests.

Pros: Class is not necessary, especially if you cannot stand a single-minded person. Just read the book and show up for tests!
Cons: When you study for her tests you have to think like her...like a liberal. So basically "think" that government should be big and Texas has it all wrong and you should have a 4.0 in the class.

Pros: Exams reflect the chapters from the text book and questions from the text book companion site practices quizzes are on all four exams.
Cons: She randomly puts questions from her lectures that are not in the textbook on the exam so if you don't go to class you could possibly miss at most 5 or 6 out of a 50 question exam

Pros: Attendance not mandatory
Cons: Horrible prof. Definitely one of the worst teachers I've had. Tried to tell me Saudia Arabia was in sub-saharan africa and other things that were blatantly false. This class should have been called "East asian politics and sidestories" because that's the only thing we ever learned about.

Pros: Should be easy
Cons: It gets a bit confusing knowing what she wants us to study exactly
If you have friends who have taken her, they should be able to help you get a better grade in her class. She might give some bonus questions or extra credit throughout the course.

Pros: Don't really have to go to class..just go to the 4.0&Go session before each test.
Cons: LOTS of information. She is foreign and nearly impossible to understand so it is pointless to go to class. I learned more from the 4.0&Go tutor than this professor.
