CHEM 002
General Chemistry I
1*
Pros: i have yet to see a pro for this professor and i have had him for two separate chem courses.
Cons: Everything from teaching style, the way he words the exams, the format of the quizzes. the overall difficulty he adds to the class
this is not a good professor, DO NOT take this course unless you would like to teach yourself from the book, he reads the power-points to you in lecture and never elaborates. when a student does not understand he just reply's that "you will get it later" when of course he didn't teach it so they will NOT get it later. office hours are one on one most of the times which is nice but i feel like you can skip lecture, read the book and go to office hours instead and have a better chance at passing this course.

CHEM 002
General Chemistry I
1*
Pros: The man acts nice, then turns a quarter of the way into the semester. He tries to make students feel at ease by saying "very good question, thank you!" uhh, ya Mark sure. You're a real nice guy alright. This wasn't really a pro but felt like writing something in here for the hell of it.
Cons: You name it, he has it.
Horrible teacher. He just doesn't teach in a realistic way. He lectures at you with a very verbose vocabulary, expecting you to understand phrases you probably never even heard before. He punishes all current and future students for the mistakes of students past. Like moving all midterm tests to friday evenings rather than in class, no longer allows cheat sheets, Doesn't allow review sessions because it gives students "a false sense of security." On tests and midterms, he phrases questions in a very confusing way. THEYRE NOT EVEN GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT! When you ask a simple question for clarification, he goes off on a tangent using some complicated example to try to respond to your simple question, using ridiculous chemistry words you havent even learned yet. You're left sitting there, unable to comprehend why you understand less now than before you raised your hand. And if anyone complains that a concept is too hard to understand or the tests he gives are unfair, his response is; "as im sure every one of you in here is rewriting all your notes after every class, reviewing the slides before every class and doing all the practice problems, there shouldn't be any problems." In a very sarcastic tone with a smile on his face. Where as many teachers try to give their students all possible advantages to learn, Mark gives you the bare minimum and expects to to sink or swim. Yah, cuz we all know how successful toddlers are at swimming when first tossed into the deep end of the pool. WERE HERE TO GET A GRIP ON CHEM DUMBASS, TOSSING US INTO THE DEEP END BEFORE HAVING A SOLID FOUNDATION IS A MORONIC MISTAKE A LEGIT INSTRUCTOR SHOULD NEVER MAKE. Think, flood levies and hurricane Katrina.
