PHYS 1010 - PHYSICAL SCIENCE
Be sure to listen in class.
Pros: He loves physics
shows really cool videos
lets you submit a question before class
has cool demonstration of theories
assigns 2 students each class to submit notes
Cons: doesn't wear a microphone so it may be hard to hear him
his tests will be very hard unless you catch every word he says, sometimes his phrasings on questions are beyond basic physical science students' knowledge
submitted notes normally aren't very good

Pros: No homework. 5 Multiple choice tests. The final exam is just a normal test (not cumulative). Two students a day are randomly chosen to take notes for that day (this is the only way attendance is taken). These notes are often extremely helpful, if you have missed class or just couldn’t follow his lecture. There is almost always a curve on the tests. Nice guy..tries to incorporate youtube videos and demonstrations to make class more interesting.
Cons: Really terrible lecturer. He talks in circles and doesn’t ever get to his point. He makes what could be an interesting class very boring. The questions on the tests are all very tricky in their wording which is why so many people do poorly on them.

I wouldn’t recommend him if you need to know this stuff…but if you study your butt off for the tests and don’t get confused by the wording of the questions then its possible to get an A or B on the tests (Plus the curves always help!)

Pros: Curves tests.
Cons: Tests are super hard to get A's on, even after the curve highest grade i ever got on a test was an 85.

If you miss one day of class your screwed bc the only thing he puts online are student submitted notes which always suck.
This is a science class for non science majors, but that doesn't mean its easy. Go to class and write down everything he says and study hard for each test and you might, MIGHT, make a high B or A-

I have been working very hard in this class and i have a B- , if possible, take something else.

Cons: exams are painfully difficult due to the absence of any study guide or powerpoints on ELC. all he provides are randomly selected student notes, and he doesn't even proofread those before he posts them

Pros: He enjoys teaching the subject and usually has good examples/demonstrations/youtube videos to help you understand the concept.

The book is usually very helpful (and was less than $10!)

He puts two students' notes online for every class.
Cons: The tests were hard for me because they were always different. One would focus on the demonstrations he does in class, one would be very specific, one would be extremely broad, etc. That made it hard for me to know what to study.
Make sure you study from the book, your notes, and your classmates' notes. All three will help you.

Pros: Very interesting, puts all class notes on ELC along with every diagram or outside source he uses for the lecture. No quizzes, test are easy and he takes a whole class to review before each test. Small class size and very open to any questions.
Cons: Note taker is selected at random each day, If you are not there if your name is called, points are deducted from your grade.

Must read the book and submit a question about each chapter an hour before each class.

Pros: Textbook is only $9 brand new and helps out alot. Test are average difficulty but are always curved. The first test was curved 12 points!
Cons: Everyday he randomly picks two people to take notes for ELC. There is no attendance policy but if your name is picked and you are not there it will hurt your grade.
Relatively easy class. The material gets more confusing towards the end of the semester. 5 test 20% a piece. That's the entire class. Curves every grade.

Pros: Helpful, shows interesting and relevant videos
Cons: No powerpoint, all lecture. Make sure you catch every word and everything written on the board.
Book hardly ever used in class, you might use it outside class for your own benefit, but you can get away with not buying it. Class is easy if you pay attention, but its very easy to get bored and distracted.
