Pros: Knows his subject and makes the class very interesting. Highly suggest him.
Cons: Tests are essay format and you HAVE to start studying at least a week in advance. Lot of reading. Some of it is engaged and some of it isn't.
Depending on the T.A. you have the class will be easy or hard for you. If you get one named Kainen Morel switch immediately!!! He doesn't know anything about American History and is extremely rude to his students.

The lecture classes are quite boring, but the discussion sessions are very interesting and really get you involved. Grades and interest really depends upon your TA.

Pros: Drake is very fun to listen to in lecture.
Explains everything you will need to know for test.
tests are not cumulative
Cons: Very hard cumulative end of term paper
The class is very heavily reliant on who your TA is. Many students struggle in the class but I have found that this comes from studying issues more than anything else. My advice for studying is to record all the lectures on your computer and then go back to listen to them. the class tests are not cumulative and generally cover very easy topics. The biggest struggle I found was the end of term paper. There is a lot of reading but you get an entire week to read everything before the next breakout session. In general the class is not bad.

The only nice things I can say about him are that he's at least enthusiastic about his subject and is good about posting his powerpoints online. This class is pretty difficult- the papers are a pain and are graded very anally, and reading all of the books makes you want to shoot yourself in the face. And you might get screwed and get a bad TA. Some of the TAs have no idea what they're talking about. The tests are all essay- some people have trouble finishing them in the time allowed. You have to know what you're talking about and provide a lot of detail in your essays in order to get a decent grade. All in all, a very unenjoyable experience. I wish you luck if you decide to take this class.

Pros: The lectures are very interesting. And the notes are detailed. The TA's are willing to help you when needed.
Cons: The tests are all essay. No multiple choice. You have to cover a lot in all of your answers, and there are very few questions actually on the test. You must take notes very quickly. A few of the TA's did not speak English very well, and it made it very difficult to communicate with them.
There is a large research paper to be written at the end of the year, but it is the only homework/ projects that are assigned. A young and interesting professor. Dr. Drake really know the information that he is teaching the class.

Pros: Drake is an amazing professor! You're lucky if you have him. The class is great and he makes learning fun. You actually learn a lot! I really really enjoyed History 2112 with him!
Cons: He grades good and his TA's break out sessions are just for bonus points.
Only difficult thing is the final paper, condensing 110 years of history into 7 pages was kind of hard. But besides that, great class!
Drake really cares and makes the class so much fun! I definitely recommend taking him if you can! I would definitely take another history class with him if I could!

Pros: He is pretty funny! He may talk a little fast but it is not that bad. He gives great notes and he explains things well. If you have a question, he will answer your question even though you are in a 300 people class.
Cons: There is a lot of books he wants you to buy. His tests can be a little difficult if you don't do the readings.
History is not a hard class if you take it with Drake. Give it a try and most likely you will do well!

He is really good, I was fortunate to be in a small class with him, so our weekly discussion was with him not a TA. Great man, really know his history and can relate it to a lot of things. He prepares you for whats going to be on the test, nothing crazy. just go to class. Oh and all the tests are short answer

Pros: Laptops allowed, but it was tempting to not pay attention. Being able to look up the topic we're going over for more detail was beneficial. Every other Friday is for class discussion. No textbook but several novels are required.
Cons: Prone to rambling and adding irrelevant information. One essay with extensive research required.

Cons: There are only 2 tests, a term paper, and a final that are in the class, so there is a ton of information crammed on each test. There was also a lot of reading.

Pros: He's a really good teacher. This class is kind of dependent on your TA and how much work you're willing to pout into it. If you actually read the given assignments and study, you'll do fine.
Cons: It's a hard class at first, but don't let the types of tests he gives intimidate you. They're lengthy, but fair.
