She is the worst professor I have ever had. Her tests are impossible to master. She is all about being "fair" and "not trying to trick you" on the tests, but she does it anyways. Her lectures only help a little, and she goes so fast over material that should be basic, but she has somehow made complicated. Going to her for help is no good. She's very knowledgeable in the material that is being taught, therefore the class is way to advanced for a basic level class. Prepare to study for forever and a year for her tests and never reap the reward of doing so.

Dr. Lemons is amazing! She has so much enthusiasm for the class and she is one of the nicest people ever. Even when she has a 100 person class, she makes an effort to get to know every single person in the class. Her tests are solely on her lectures so if you take good notes in class you can do really well in the course. She gives you the powerpoints beforehand which is really helpful when taking notes in class and studying. Studying for her tests do not involve much, just to look over your notes a few times to make sure you understand everything.

Pros: Really nice woman

Helpful is you ask for it
Cons: Insanely hard tests, always gives multiple choice where there are two good answers, with only a slight difference between the two
Go to class, listen in lecture, and make sure you go over your notes a LOT. Her tests require a lot of studying before you can distinguish the subtle differences that make an answer correct.

Pros: She's really sweet and tries to come up with interesting things to do in class.
Cons: Her tests are pretty hard but she gives you everything you need to know to do well on them. The class is also really boring, subject wise.
She posts learning objectives with every lecture: THOSE WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND FOR STUDYING! What I did was collect them all and then went through them one by one to make sure I could answer them.

Pros: Very Descriptive

Podcast/Notes Posted

Cons: Specific Case Studies

Minute Essays

I didn't really enjoy the class because the whole semester was spent studying specific examples, but then the tests were over general concepts. There were minute essays every week, and you never knew when it was going to be graded. I also felt that I was in elementary school sometimes because everyone had a folder with their name on it, and in order to ask/answer a question, you had to raise your folder. I know that it's hard to be personal with your students in a 300 person class, but I am not expecting you to.

Pros: She knows her material, and she knows it well. She posts all the powerpoints online and even posted most of the podcasts which were quite helpful. She allows you to go to a couple extra credit seminars. Her tests have about 40 questions, mostly multiple choice, then two or three short answer questions. Pay attention to specific examples she gives in class, because you will be asked about them on the tests. Her tests are somewhat cumulative but not awful, she drops your lowest test grade, and her final is only 25% cumulative (however I found it quite the opposite....)
Cons: Her tests can be more tricky than I thought they would be, but they are not impossible. I found her personality to be somewhat childlike when teaching the class, but it's understandable being an intro class. Sometimes the readings and case studies became annoying and the new clicker system made failing batteries the cause of a poor attendance grade, so that sucked.

Pros: She's pretty upbeat and posts power points online, though they aren't always filled in completely. She gives opportunities throughout the semester for extra credit and drops your lowest test average from your final grade. She's also experimenting with Pod casting the lectures which was super helpful when it came to studying for tests, but not always reliable due to technical problems.
Cons: Tests are incredibly hard and the amount of work/studying required to do well is way more than you should have to do for an 1000 level class.
Overall, Professor Lemons is interested in what she teaches and having her students succeed, but that doesn't stop her from making the class incredibly challenging. This was my first biology class since high school and she sometimes assumed I knew things that I haven't seen since 10th grade. Overall, the class is a lot of work and very challenging.

Pros: Genuinely a nice person; takes an interest in each student individually.
Cons: The class is not taught well; probably the worst class I’ve taken at UGA. The tests are largely based on large concepts but her lectures focus on specific cases. She also tests on topics covered in lecture, but aren’t on the lecture power point. I felt she treated the class much like elementary school children; we made folders with our names on them and were expected to raise them in lecture so that she could learn our names. In took the biology lab, and she had us take pictures with nametags. The case studies are a major annoyance and always group based.

Pros: She's a very nice person, very easy to talk to.

Never have to use the book.
Cons: Tests are way too difficult for a non-science major's course! The class lectures don't clearly lay out what to study and a lot of what is on the test are things that she (or Dr. Farmer) says that isn't on the power points.
I really didn't like this class. It makes you so frustrated because you'll study so hard for a test and feel like an idiot when you get such a low grade back. The class lectures don't prepare you well for the test. It didn't make biology interesting at all.

Don't take this class unless you have to.

Pros: Easy class to get through if you put in the effort.
Cons: i think it was too hard for an intro and nonscience major course
Dr. lemons is good and nice but cannot explain things good. Dr farmer who taught one unit kept our interest better and explained things in a way we can understand. She is extremely nice and will try her best to help a student. However her tests are impossible, really hard. Read the notes a lot before class and listen to podcasts, somehow i manages an A in the class.

Pros: Very enthusiastic about her class
Cons: The class is very big and after the first couple tests, the material is pretty complex and it is difficult to really understand it from lecture and her power points
If you don't go to class, you clicker questions grades/ attendance will come back to bite you. It seems like a small part of your grade but in the long run the points do matter.

Pros: Material easy to understand

Attendance-As long as you come for at least 22 days, you get full points for attendance

Cons: Boring teacher-She does try, though. I'll give her that

Case studies are pointless...and are always group oriented

Clicker questions everyday

Take this class once you are accomplished in the world (hint, hint like junior year. its much better)

Pros: She's the sweetest professor I've ever had, really wants her students to do well. Funny, pretty interesting.
Cons: I hate to say this, but she's not the best at getting the information across clearly. She really wants to, but it just doesn't happen so often.
Go to class, pay attention, ask questions and you'll be fine.

Pros: She is very enthusiastic, sometimes too much. She wants all of her students to know and understand biology.
Cons: Too much student discussion. We are in the class to learn not teach each other. How can we teach when we don't know the material ourselves? Also, her test are almost impossible to study and prepare for.
