Molec & Cellular Basis of Life
Pros: You will learn a LOT from this class.
Cons: It requires a lot of time to fully understand the material. Tests can be tricky and require critical thinking.
If you work really hard, you can get the grade you want. I definitely recommend recording the lectures and using them to study, Mehrten goes fast, so the recordings will let you go back and write down what you missed.

This class is TOUGH. Put time into it THROUGHOUT the semester, and you will learn a lot. Go to office hours; Mehrtens is great and a lot less intimidating once you get to know him, plus he might give hints about exam questions. This class will stress a freshman out like no other but stick with it and you'll get the grade.

Mehrtens is a very good professor. He knows his material well so if you go to ask a question or have a comment be sure to know what you're talking about or he'll let you know you're wrong. His exams are very difficult and tests on the most little things so be prepared. You can put a lot of work into his class and that still could not be enough.

Pros: He's a great orator, and he's really well organized. He's also very particular about what he says, which doesn't leave a lot of space for ambiguity when it comes to lecture content.
Cons: You have to pay very careful attention to all the details of the lectures. If you want to do well, recording the lectures is a must.

Cons: Speaks kinda fast though. Really have to pay attention to EVERYTHING he says. DON't fall asleep.
