CHEM 131 - CHEM FUNDAMENTALS I
Mastering Chemistry due each week is a huge pain, and sometimes took me up to 5 hours to complete. However, it WAS helpful...it did help to teach me what I needed to know for the exam.
I stopped reading the textbook after a while, and didn't notice a big difference in my grades.
Pros: If you go to him for help, he will explain what you are having problems with over and over til you understand it.
Also, Rey (TA) was awesome, and he really understands and knows how to respond to questions.

Good professor. His exams are decent, the average was around 70% for the first two, though our third exam had an average of 50%. Sometimes he'd make a student feel dumb during lecture if they asked a question that was obvious to him (to be fair, sometimes it WAS a really bad question). He's a nice guy and pretty funny (in a cheesy way). Graded clicker questions each class, though sometimes they were freebies (what do you eat on thanksgiving? turkey). I'd take another chem class with him.

Good teacher and makes some funny corny jokes, lol. uses a clicker ~3-4times/week. 3 tests: each of which are fairly easy;however, you must come prepared (unlike myself). gives prac tests which are good. online ARIS hw is really hard compared to book work or in-class work. go to lec to get worked out problems. writes own final. curve.."depends"

He doesnt like to curve his class but on the other hand compared to other teachers his exams are much easier and straightforward. He is a fun professor to have, always making jokes during the lecture and give you clicker points as part of your grade (basically free points).

Pros: -Sense of humor

-Accommodating
Cons: -Willing to put questions on exams worth high point values that the class partially reviewed once for 20 seconds.

(8% off of my first exam for a single problem that he essentially overlooked - making me think it was unimportant).

-Anything is fair game on exams
As a human, Bryan is kind, humorous and understanding.

I respect him for those qualities.

However, it could be the case that 90% of an exam is derived from material discussed for 5 minutes during a single class. The things that are obviously important, are obviously important. The problem is that minute details from class can suddenly turn into major questions on exams, making it difficult to study specifically what you believe is important.

Pros: Great lecturer, very fair exams.
Cons: Chemistry is challenging for many people, and this class is fast paced. Huge class sizes mean no real help from professor or even TAs.
If taking chemistry Eichhorn is a great professor. Its not an easy class, but he uses clicker questions for extra credit, and does not write terribly hard exams. The class is curved as well, and the online homework helps your grade too.

Pros: He knows stuff. You will learn a lot from him. He explains stuff very well. And he is very nice.
Cons: Nothing really.
He uses MasteringChem.com for homework. It was hard for me but his exams were not hard as the HW. So, if you do fine on HW, then you are really good to go in this class.

He's straight forward and tells you exactly what to know for exams. Posts previous exams which are very similar to what you'll see. Clicker questions every class are extra credit and online homeworks are pretty easy.
