Pros: Excellent teacher. Makes class extremely interesting and makes you want to go. Very funny. Knows the material extremely well.
Book is used in class and the stories we talk about are in the book, however you do not need to read them to get a good grade as long as you have the notes and attend class.

The class isn't easy because there's no work involved. It's easy because Professor Barnes is such a great teacher that he makes the information so fun and easy that you can't help but to remember it. =)

Pros: 4 exams is all there was. The lectures were great they were so interesting and he was hilarious. He made every class seem like story time. After each exam, the person with the highest grade would receive a prize-normally it was so weird concoction that he had made like a dollouse made of popsicle stickes or something like that. he was a very cool, down to earth erson.
Cons: If you bomb the tests your kind of screwed but if you go to class you should be fine.

Classics in a Cross-Cultural Context

Pros: Hands down one of the best classes I've had. Learned a lot, and it was a lot of fun. The class revolved around discussion of the books, and he let us lead it for the most part, inserting his ideas. Great experience!
Cons: I can't think of a thing. Honestly. The Class was amazing.

One of the best classes I've ever taken at Mizzou, and not because it's easy. Professor Barnes was funny, energetic, and loved what he was teaching. I genuinely looked forward to this class every time I had it. If you have time, definitely work this into your schedule.
