Amazing teacher! Absolutely loves what he teaches and this is evident through his teaching. Always friendly and encourages students to ask questions or answer his questions. His class isn't too hard if you study, there may be a lot of material though. Some times the lectures are not as clear as they could be, but overall, he's a great teacher and I highly recommend taking one of his classes.

Smith was a good teacher, very enthusiastic about the class. The quizzes are really hard and very specific. Exams are not too bad. There are jazz reviews to complete, usually graded pretty lenient.

Fairly easy class with Brooks Smith, but not the most interesting. You have to show up and pay attention to his lectures if you want to do well on tests, but the lectures get really boring. You do have to study hard for the tests/quizzes, but there's only like 5 of those. Be prepared to identify songs on tests--its kind of tough because they all sound the same. You listen to music in class, and most people should be able to get an A or B.

Pros: AMAZING PROF!!! interesting topic, easy class, only hw is reading
Cons: tests are moderately difficult. Have to do papers on jazz concerts that you have to pay for and go on your own time, hard class to get into
