Pros: He makes chemistry seem not that bad. He's a good professor and is really interested in making sure his students understand. Grade is determined by 4 exams, a final (that you can exempt from if your exam average is an A), quest homework (one per week), and clicker points (that are extra credit). The most important thing for this class is that you find his old exams. He reuses A LOT of the same questions like probably 20 to 25 of his 30ish question tests come from old exams.
Cons: it's still chemistry...

Pros: Notecards allowed for tests
Drop lowest test score
Final optional if test scores are high
Cons: 75% of final grade is test scores
Dr. Holcombe doesn't drown you in homework, but make sure you know the material well for the tests. The tests are quest, but all the material comes straight from the lectures/book making them very easy to score well on if you have good study habits.

Pros: Very entertaining professor and very clear lectures. He stayed on topic, but would throw in fun facts sometimes.
Cons: Everything is on Quest, which I hated.
He is really a great teacher and very interested in his students.
