Well of the criteria you can rate, you can't tell why she's a bad teacher, can you? She knows her stuff, is very nice, comes prepared, communicates what she wants to communicate well, is pretty fair and she's always available. Here's why she sucks. First off, you will be babied from the first day of class and made to feel like you just made that huge transition from elementary school to middle school, and I really don't want to hear it, especially after I've already gone through 2 years of college and up to this point no teacher needed to act like I was a complete idiot and couldn't figure out problems such as what to do when my printer fails and stupid tips that just make you feel juvenile. Second, the class is an hour and 15 minutes long. She occasionally does exciting demonstrations... but the first half of the semester, she used up the entire class time by giving us an amount of useful information that could have easily been communicated in 15 minutes. The second half of the semester she actually taught useful things the entire class period, but that was because there was so much more information than at the beginning, she still didn't cover half of what was on homeworks and the tests. Tests are a lot like the homeworks. Homeworks consist of maybe 1/6 questions that you can answer from your book, 1/6 questions that you can answer from what she taught in lecture, and then 2/3 that you have to waste time googling or going to her office hours. Thats where the availability comes in. She offers a ton of office hours, however, the homework questions require that you attend every office hour session she holds, or else you will not really be able to get above a B on them, at least, not if you have a real schedule. I work 3 days a week, and my other classes are upper division classes that don't give me the time to attend office hour sessions on a regular basis. Besides that, in 2 years here, I have never had a teacher use office hours for teaching, and I feel that is just wrong. Office hours should be for further explanation of material that a student did not understand in class or from the book. She completely leaves out topics that she then goes over in office hours, so its as if you skipped out on class 2 days a week if you don't go. I'll stop ranting and raving now, but it just needed to be said. I'm still pulling a B rather easily, she doesn't grade very hard, but these are classes I always expect to get an A in b/c they are intro and not even
