He does really good reviews before exams however, all topics he explained in the review are worded differently (more complicated) on the exam making it very difficult, even if you understand the concept.

Mike is a great guy who loves economics. He goes over each topic quite a few time to make sure the whole class is on track, which can get boring if you go to ever class and catch on pretty quick. In any case, he does awesome review sessions for the tests in class that essentially spell out what will be on the test. He tries hard to get to know all his students, even in the big lectures.

I loved this class. I got so much out of it and he is the reason I am now minoring in AAEC. He is probably my favorite professor at Tech. Go to class and take detailed notes. That is what I did and I got As on all the exams. Such a great man. He truly cares about his students and his exams are fair.

Enthusiastic about topics unlike my ECON 2005 professor last semester. I'm actually liking economics now. if you go to class and take notes you will do well, don't really need to do much outside of class besides studying for tests.

One of the best teachers I've had at tech. Even if you don't have to take economics, you should take ag econ with mike. You'll learn a lot and get a good grade, guaranteed. This class made me want to go to grad school for econ.

I great class. Mike seems to enjoy the class and is knowledgeable about the material. Even though he is religious, the tests are based on facts from either the books or articles. I would highly recommend taking this course.

Great teacher!! He explains complex ideas in a way that is easy for anyone to understand. You don't have to be an econ major to enjoy his classes. He is also really good about reviewing material before the tests.

The entire class is based on only 4 tests but Mike is the nicest professor I have had thus far. He is always open for communication and always answers emails immediately. He is a great professor.

Pros: Exams are not cumulative - you'll read one book, take an exam on only that material.

Reading the texts is essential to succeed, but if you know that you will do well.
Cons: The Scholar site is essentially unused. He did not post the syllabus online and email is used to pass along YouTube videos vaguely relating to the discussion that week.

Exams are the only way to receive credit and there are four regular exams (final is not cumulative, just another exam). Going to class is imperative because sometimes he makes announcements/changes to the syllabus and there is no way to find this out otherwise.

The lectures are pretty interesting, but I recommend not bringing a laptop as this can be distracting. Pay attention in class, read the material, study terms and you'll do well.

Pros: Only 4 grades that aren't really hard, Mike is very nice and personable, no final, just 4 exams, always got in to see him in his office the same day I asked when he was free, always made me feel welcome and like he enjoyed helping me
Cons: Sometimes lets the conversation go on too long (one time on review day the opening conversation wasted the whole class and we got no review...)
Mike is a very good professor and does a great job at being open to every students opinions. I really liked this class and especially learning about evolution. If you want an easy A/B and need an elective or if Science and Religion and that kind of argument interests you, take Mike.

Pros: made material very relevant and easy to understand

usually let class out a little early
Cons: A lot of graphs to follow along with and try to make sense of, but if you ask questions he will help you out!
Very inspirational speaker. Occasionally he read newspaper articles about Tech or other things going on to the class, which was very neat. I also loved the speech he read to us about learning to love learning. I'd love to take another class with him.

Pros: Quickness in Communication

Jollyness

Cons: Ambiguous Test Questions
Mike is a great teacher. He invites all of his students to his house at the end of each semester, it's a great time!

As far as the class is concerned, there are 4 tests. If you go to class and do the readings the tests are pretty easy. They are all multiple choice so some of the questions are confusing though.

Mike is an amazing teacher. He tells you at the beginning of the semester that he will never try to trick you on an exam and he told the truth. The exams are very straight forward. He actually cares about his students. He wants you to learn life lessons as well as economics! Not to mention he is very humorous and an adorable older man.

Pros: His final is noncumulative because "nothing else in life will be cumulative" (quote from the first day of class). He is kind and will answer any question. He also goes over problems 1000 times so you will understand what to do by the end of the day. Wonderful professor and person in general.
Cons: There is math

Pros: He is very fair and willing to discuss the test and any problems with the test with the class. He also gives a breakdown of the test with the pages that you need to study from the book.
Cons: Each exam is 25% of the grade, so if you dont do well on one test, there is not a lot of room to pull the grade up.
