Very smart professor but very strict and tough. Depending on the performance of the class can make the difference in his sympathy on grades. Good handwriting for notes and easy to understand. Uses some weird humor from time to time.

This guy completely redefines a professor who knows so much about the subject he baffles at those who can't catch onto concepts. Yes, he wrote the book, and he'll talk about it some. He does communicate exactly what you need to know for homework and tests, but without question you'll be studying to succeed in this class. Put time into your work and Kraige's style of teaching will work with you. Kraige is a good guy, but it takes the whole semester until you fully understand his odd ways of caring about his students.

Everyone has different opinions about Kraige.

I didn't like him. He's a good guy, but he doesn't teach well.

He flies through the material in class, often times wasting it with some stupid story about his wife or a movie or something, and we're expected to figure out the material on our own.

I tried. I went to Kraige for help, TA's, used the book, and the software-- it was miserable.

Just as a note, he is helpful in office hours.

He does want the students to do well, so he'll really try to help.

Kraige helped write the book but there is honestly no point in going to class because he won't actually teach you anything. Hendricks is much harder but when it comes to actually learning what you are doing he does the best job, but if Bolton is teaching he is the absolute best.

He knows this stuff, but he's very arrogant about the whole affair, he has a very odd engineery personality. He can't teach as well as Hendricks, unless you're way into theory and dont care so much about practical application. his tests dont really give you enough time and the problems are very tricky, if you can get hendricks somehow, go with him.

he's also in love with the fact that he wrote the book, and he's probably a fanboy of the RIAA, hes totally against the open exchange of information and thinks that people who cant afford the class shouldnt have access to the material (he got pissed at a kid who took a picture of one of his homework solutions, so he could study more for the tests, i mean the kid was creepy, but he STOPPED the class over something as small as that, and had this big long discussion about how his material was finding its way onto the internet)

Pros: Tests are all multiple choice and much easier than the HW.

He knows what he is talking about and is a really interesting guy if you take the time to talk to him
Cons: Shorter lectures

HW is very very challenging
Overall a great professor who knows what he is talking about. He is the writer of the textbook (and wont let you forget that), and shares some interesting stories in class. He takes the honor code very seriously, so even though HW answers can be found online resist the urge to copy and honestly do your work (it will turn out better for you in the long run). A benefit is that while the HW's can be super challenging the tests are not nearly as difficult and if you have spent the time to get the HW correct and you did it honestly the tests will be very reasonable.

Kraige is a pompous prick who knows what he is talking about. He gets really pissy about little things, like coming into class late or coming to the front of the classroom to turn in homework 30 seconds after he's started lecturing. Despite the fact that he's a buttmunch, he knows what he is talking about - he wrote the book (and he won't let you forget it). He does sometimes have problems communicating ideas when people can't get their heads around the theory of something.

FOR GODS SAKE GET A STRAIGHT EDGE AND CIRCLE STENCIL!!!!

Hard prof. = hard class. Quiz almost everyday (scantron) which really sux if you only know how to do 90% of the problem, or just get a sign wrong. tests are very tricky and dont reflect the hw most of the time. you turn in a lot of hw which is good most of the time, except when he assigns you 6 and the one problem you dont understand, he'll ask you to turn it in before he goes over it...ugh

Though the homework is hard, he goes over it in the beginning of class very thoroughly. Also, he requires that you keep all of past homework because he says he will check that you are keeping a portfolio. He never did in our class though he said that he checked his other class. Although, me and the group i was talking to conferred that it was probably only a scare tactic and that he never actually did it.

The material is tough, the lectures are informative and attendance is a must. Quized should be easy to study for, do all homework, and practice problems like crazy for the tests. A typical engineering prof except he was very well organized to account for the fact that he isn't used to large classes. Overall probably as good as you can get from a pipeline class like dynamics.

Kraige has taught this stuff so many times that he knows the material, knows how to teach it, and knows how the students need to learn. He is weird at times (and he knows it), but that makes the class funny and helps keep students interested. It's a hard course, so don't expect him to give out easy A's. Keep up with the material and don't fall behind.

he has OCD and likes everything to be exactly his way...but once you get that down its easy. Tests are pretty easy if you do the homework and study the previous tests. The tests are exactly the same. He curved everything...the class average this semester was like 84%. if you go to class, do your homework, and study a little you can end up with a B and probably an A

He is a good professor I guess. I just don't think you should be able to teach from your own book. There are multiple ways of attacking problems in engineering and its good to get 2 opinions.

A bit of a warning. The first quarter of the class is very easy. It gets hard very quickly after that and it is difficult to catch up.

A great professor, he can go off on random NASCAR tangents sometimes, but they always end up back at the point of the lesson. He's very sure of himself, but don't confuse that with arrogance. He knows what he's doing, and if you choose to listen and do the homework, you'll do well.

The tests get harder as they go. Go to office hours for every homework. Read the whole book. Quizzes are on anything that was previously covered, not just the homework. Do extra problems for studying purposes if you want to get A's for the later tests.

Fairly knowledgeable professor.... The only real beef I have with him is when he uses the Dynamics software and gets sidetracked on family stories. His tests are fair... and follow the same format as previous semester tests.

he's very condescending, states that teaching is not his primary job, he uses his own book for the class, which is not really good, and continuously rant about getting out money's worth.

Kraige was a good professor. He wrote the book so he knows the material very well. The bottom line is if you want a good grade in this class you HAVE TO do the homework and struggle with it a little bit.

He wrote the text book for the class, so he has a handle of the material. He's disorganized at times, and goes off on tangents, but compensates you by being fair about things.
