(founded in 2008) is a consumer internet platform that makes college easier for students by providing free access to testbanks, practice exams, professor ratings and grade distribution data, flashcards, and a class schedule maker. Koofers also has an enterprise Campus Recruiting solution that allows employers and recruiting firms to easily find and quickly vet through our 1MM college students looking for internships and full job time opportunities.
Michael Rihani Co-founder and CEO
Michael has started three internet-based businesses. In fact, his father, two brothers, and three uncles have all successfully started and still run their own companies - it must be in the blood! He is passionate about giving back to students, as he believes that entrepreneurship = tomorrow > today. He is also a happiness fanatic and strives to educate, promote, and integrate positive psychology behaviors into everyone’s life/work balance. Michael received his BS in Business Information Technology - Operations Management from Virginia Tech in 2008.
Glynn LoPresti Co-founder and President
Glynn is an experienced technology executive with a background in systems and data engineering. He spent the majority of his career as a contractor serving the DOD and Intelligence Communities. As the Director of Federal Systems at CWPS, Inc., Glynn founded the government contracting division, securing and managing multiple large federal contracts. Glynn received his BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1995.
Patrick Gartlan Co-founder and CTO
Patrick graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007 with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in business. He had a role at a big four accounting firm implementing large scale financial systems before co-founding Koofers. Patrick's background and experience ranges from designing databases, software systems and data flows to actual development and implementation as both a developer and team lead.
Dan Donahoe Co-founder and Software Architect
Dan likes to build high performance web and desktop applications. Web and desktop development includes use of n-tier applications focusing on high performance and rapid seamless scaling. He's involved in all stages of product development, including defining of requirements, technical design, implementation and post deployment maintenance. He has proven experience with cloud based PaaS providers, most notably Amazon Web Services (AWS). For fun, he maintains several personal open source projects on Github. Dan received his BS in Computer Science from Virginia Tech in 2007.
Minh Lê Software Developer
Minh builds and maintains software for the acquisition and normalization of all data on Koofers. With the vast amount of data he handles, he is no doubt a database programming expert in both SQL and stored procedures. He recently moved to the United States from Vietnam and has been enjoying his time in the States ever since. Minh received his BS in Computer Science from the Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology in 2006. Also great at StarCraft.
Alex Rhea Software Developer
Alex loves all things flat and responsive. While working at Koofers, he still attends school and is also involved with Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business' social media group, PRISM. In the past years, he has built many other websites from the ground up, often utilizing PHP frameworks, MySQL, jQuery, and Google App Engine. Alex is expected to receive his BS in Business Information Technology from Virginia Tech in 2014.
