Pros: Easiest class you'll ever take.
Cons: None!
If you've taken one year of spanish in high school or you know no spanish at all, this class will still be easy. We have homework everyday, but it's so easy. If you need to get the GE or you need some extra units this is an easy class to take. We spent the entire first 2 weeks learning greetings and numbers. EASY!

i absolutely adore her. her class is very straight foward. if you've taken spanish one and two you will be fine. from spanish two you learn a lot more vocab and a few key concepts but they arent hard to grasp at all. she does give about three of four test but they arent hard. she will prep you very well. she does a lot of in class assignments but they are very helpful. the homework is turned in by chapters which is due the day you take the test. this class really helps you take your spanish to the next level. take her. you wont regret it! Pros: -Fun Class

-Nice professor

-Very easy
Cons: -Almost felt like a waste of time going to her class
This class was great. It was the one time during the quarter that I was able to just sit down, relax, and calm myself down. During a quarter in which one takes a full load of engineering classes, works at a fast paced company, and must also deal with some major family obligations, I found it very nice sitting in this class and not worrying too much about all the difficulties of life. The class was very easy and required little to no effort to pass. However, I feel like the class really helped me to improve my spanish speaking skills. I highly recommend this class to anyone who needs to fulfill a GE whilst also not having to worry about that GE. The professor makes the class very engaging and fun and makes it very easy to meet people in the class. Grade Received: A

I loved this class! Natalia is extremely nice and friendly. You won't be afraid to ask any questions. The homework is in the workbook and is due on test days. If for some reason you forget it at home or in your car, she lets you make up for it by doing a small presentation the following week about anything having to do with the Latin culture (Flamenco, your trip to Mexico, how to make fajitas). We do fun stuff in class, too. When we were on the clothing chapter, the class did a fashion show where we had to describe in Spanish what each person wore. And the classwork is mainly interviews where you go around asking your classmates if they meet one of the criteria on the handout (ie. ?Te gusta estudiar?). And when someone meets the criteria, you ask, "?Como te llamas?" and write their name down. Participate and your accent will improve. Grade Received: A

It's been almost 5 years since I last learned Spanish in high school and came into the class forgetting almost everything. By the 2nd week, I was able to recuperate my knowledge in basic Spanish grammar and phrases. Prof. Lyon is one of the nicest professors I've had at Cal Poly. She is always helpful and creates a pleasant atmosphere in class where everyone is able to participate in exercises. She is also fluent in Russian and I believe, French too. If you plan to take any classes with Professor Lyon, do not hesitate to add! If she taught SPN152, it would be in my winter schedule as of now.

She is an amazing instructor! The best spanish teacher I have ever encountered! For those who go into the class not knowing a lick of spanish- don't fear, she is really patient and really wants you to learn the material. She will help you understand the material and she won't move on until everyone understands, which is great! She has a total of 3 exams and final. The homework/lab work is really easy. If you need a language class this is one you definitely want to take. Make room in your schedule if you need to because seriously it'll be worth it! Grade Received: A-

Pros: Good review if taken Spanish
Cons: Hard if never took a Spanish class before
Dr. Lyon is an ammaazziingg professor!! She is so funny and really tries to help you learn. I took three years of Spanish in high school so this class was pretty much review, but I can imagine that the class would be difficult if you never took Spanish before. The book is pretty helpful with the vocab and what not and there's online homework pretty much everyday. Overall, it's an easy class. I would definitely take another class with Dr. Lyon again!!

This class is AWESOME!! Easy class to fulfill GE or learn Spanish. She does a great job teaching Spanish and is a VERY EASY grader.

}If you already know Spanish, I would not recommend being in her class, b/c she grades on attendance. She only does this b/c she doesn't think it's fair for those who attend the class and actually participate.

}If my class load wasn't so hard next quarter I would take SPN152 w/ her just because she's that good. Grade Received: A

If you need to fulfill a GE this is the class to take...even if you have never had Spanish before. If you have, it's all the more easy. I managed to get 2 100% on tests and the others 99% and 98%. The class is very interactive but somewhat fun. Participation is part of your grade. The homework is from a workbook and due the day of the test. You cover 4 chapters or maybe it was three...anyways in the whole time. Not very hard to pass this class.

Let me start out by saying I have to be the Loudest, Cockiest, and the Funniest student that she has ever taught but she was still nice to me in a way. I got good grades on the test and she takes the class step by step, so she is the best spanish professor in Cal Poly. The only downfall is she takes attendance every day so find some fun people to hang out with in class. If you need the book e-mail spy0ptics@hotmail.com Grade Received: A

Cons: none
4 quizes. one on each section, homework is easy just do it. no midterm, the final is section 4 pretty much.

BEST,EASIEST, SPANISH TEACHER EVER!

If you dont know how to speak or write spanish this is teacher to take. Just do the H.W. which is very easy. She LITERALLY tells you whats going to be on the test. I met a white that did not learn a single word in spanish and passed with a B. You dont even have to go to class every day, but when you do participate. Easy Class, Cool professor, Easy A.

Very easy class if you took spanish in high school. Very friendly and funny teacher. she is russian but teaches spanish as if it was her native language. Easy to understand and homework isn't due til like two weeks of each test. Very laid back class, lot of participation, but overall great class. would highly recommend this teacher for anyone Grade Received: A

She is one of the BEST spanish teachers out there!! she is so nice and very easy as well. The day before the exam, she would go over in class exactly what was going to be on teh test the next meeting. I recommend taking this teacher for an easy A and a great class experience, because every single day she will make everone in class participate.

She is the best spanish teacher or teacher I ever had. She is the NICEST and EASIEST. If you want an A take her. She assigns hw daily but isnt due until the followly week or so. The only draw back is she makes you participate alot but thats normal for all spanish classes. I strongly recommend taking her. Grade Received: A

Professor Lyon does a great job teaching Spanish. She makes you stay involved and participate in class. Before exams she gives very specific info on what will be the exam (to the extent of somtimes giving you the answers). With just a little effort you should have no problem passing her class. Piece of cake class! She's a great teacher and you still learn with her. She understands that not everyone is going to be able to roll their r's or pick up on everything right away. Just go to class and turn in your homework before each test. There's absolutely no reason to not get an A! Grade Received: A

Pros: Really nice. Willing to help. Home work super easy.
Cons: None.
She taught very well. Then again I took three years of Spanish in high school. But the students in my class that were "first time speakers," they did just as well as I did.

I recommend you to take this teacher/class. For me it was an "easy 'A'."

Class was a joke. If you have any kind of background/familiarity in Spanish this class should be no problem. Lyon is a really nice professor and she teaches the material in a hands on method. Meaning you will have conversations with others in class to comprehend the material. Grade Received: A

Pros: Homework only 10%

Tests were so easy
Cons: Couldn't skip class
This was class was easy because I took spanish in high school. I didn't get the expensive book because it was so expensive and I still got an A. You can only miss 2 days of class or she will lower your grade. Easy class book not required.
