She is really nice and funny. Her class was entertaining and she keeps you laughing. She lectures a lot, but as long as you read the book and take notes, her tests are easy. The mapping portion on the test is a little difficult, but other than that they are easy. She keeps things interesting by making jokes and showing real pictures of the landmarks from trips she has been on. You just have to make sure you studl A LOT. Grade Received: B

Pros: Easy class.
Cons: Can get boring.
She teaches the class like it's high school. She gives us one worksheet every week, but we finish it in class all the time. You need the book because she doesn't post the powerpoints on blackboard. Each chapter is around 20 pages, so it goes by fast when you take notes at home. Her lectures are long and can get boring, she also assigns 3 papers, but they are really easy. You can choose to write your papers on one of 4 topics: watch a foreign film, attend a cultural event, interview an immigrant or do a current event. The class isn't that bad, just don't fall asleep.

Pros: Very easy, very fun, very knowledgeable.
Cons: None.
Take her for human geography. You have 3 exams. 1 field project (watch a movie or interview someone). Weekly study guides which is from the text (so easy to do). Love this teacher. She use to teach 5th grade so you can see the similarities. ;)

Pros: - I took the ONLINE course, you'll never need to show up!

- She is VERY organized and is straightforward on what she expects from you. You won't be confused on what is due and when it is due.

- She gives you an extra credit assignment in the beginning, and it's very simple to do.

- Fast grader, assignments are usually graded and posted the next day.

- YOU WILL LEARN A LOT! You will gain so much knowledge from this class.

Cons: - Quizzes can be very challenging if you do not study beforehand.

- Quiz questions are very detailed, answers are either hidden deep within the textbook, the lecture slides, or require critical thinking and analyzation. (Again, make sure to study prior to the quizzes)

- LOTS of reading and up to an hour and 30 mins worth of lecture slides each week. I spent a lot of time for this class.

This is my first Koofers review, and I wanted to do it for Marshall because she is a very sweet lady and an amazing professor. I had her for a class before, so thats why I decided to take her online course for GEO 351. She is very funny, even in her slides she cracks a few jokes and is playful with the various topics. But don't get me wrong, she is very serious about geography and her lecture slides hold a ton of information for the quizzes.

Info for the class:

- The class is split up into 10 weeks. Each week there is one assignment to turn in. There are also lecture slides, current event articles, and text reading.

-Every 2 weeks, there is a quiz on the topics learned the previous two lectures, so quizzes are not cumulative. There is no final or midterm, just 5 non-cumulative quizzes worth 20 points.

Tips for the class:

1. Watch the lecture slides the same day she posts them or as soon as possible (she usually posts it every Sunday). Make sure to read the text and get a gist of what that week's topic is about. This will help you do the assignment for the week as well as do good on the quizzes.

2. Since this is an online class, you would think you don't have to study and just look at your book/slides while taking the test. DON'T DO THIS. Study for the quizzes! *If you don't want to study a lot, at least know where certain topics are (in the text, lecture slides, or current event articles) so when you get asked a question you'll know where to find the answer when you take the quizzes.

3. Don't be too lazy. You will ned to be very serious about this class because its hard enough that you do not meet with Marshall face to face. It's your responsibility to learn the information. But she does have office hours so take advantage of that (although personally I never went to see her).

Overall, this was my favorite online class and I was never interested in geography at all. I learned a lot from Marshall, she's a great professor. Your grade will reflect on how hard you try in this class, so make time for it! Grade received: A

My favorite class this quarter. She is so much fun to have a class with. Very witty and keeps you laughing. She makes the material very easy to understand and her tests follow her study guides well. I would recommend this teacher over any other teacher that teaches this class. Grade Received: A

Great Professor! Mrs. Marshall is such a down to earth professor and she's funny. She loves what she teaches. If you are unsure about anything she is there to answer your questions with a smile. three exams total and 5 activity homework graded and the 6th one is extra credit.

Pros: Fair, organized, interesting, informative, easy grader on projects, easy tests
Cons: none
Awesome teacher!! I learned a ton. She was very organized, fair, informative, and made the subject interesting. The tests were not too hard, and the projects were easy. She was an easy grader on the 6 short projects. I wish I could take another class with her. Probably the best teacher I've had at Poly!!

if you are looking for an easy online ge class, do not take this class.

Definitely one of the easy GE classes you can take. It was so similar to my high school classes. She is a very nice professor, also very funny and sarcastic (in a good way). Although I feel like she sometimes doesn't know her materials that well. She said that people in Denmark spoke Dutch... O__O They speak Danish in case you're wondering, and no I'm not talking about the dessert.

3 Exams. Slightly curved. Pretty easy in my opinion. The 3rd exam is on finals week, but it's not cumulative.

4 field projects, one of which is extra credit.

10 in-class activities. Sometimes she lets you take it home to do it, depending on what activity it is. She grades them pretty easily.

Her class is pretty fun, and you can get away with not taking notes in my opinion, but that might be because I find the materials interesting and therefore remember them pretty well.

Take her when you get the chance. Easy and fun class, but does get boring at times.

Marshall is so funny. She tells really animated stories that relate to the lessons which makes the classes go by really fast. She does all lecture with some power point and a video. She has a role sheet and takes away points for not showing up. Attendance was worth 25 points! She gives two midterms and one final that is not cummulative. They were multiple choice with two short answer questions that weren't too hard. She assigned no homework, but there is one large project that wasn't even that hard. You pick a city in CA and write about each topic that the class covers on the whole state for just that area. Overall really good teacher. I went into the class thinking it was gonna be my least favorite but it ended up being my favorite. I recommend her to everyone. Grade Received: B-

3***
Pros: 1. I took the online class

2. Quizzes every other week

3. She gave 20 EC right off the bat

4. Easy assignments
Cons: 1. The quizzes test on specific things, information is kind of useless to remember

2. Some assignments like asking about your city's geographic history was annoying because some cities don't have records that old
If you try on the quizzes you'll get an A in this online class. If not you might get a easy B. I took this class as an extra GE. It's alright if you have a heavy schedule.

amazing teacher! really brings enthusiasm and knowledge to every class! if you attend every class and take good notes, there should be no reason not to get A's on every test...homework is 5/6 different assignments you can choose, with the 6th being extra credit towards the final grade, 3 tests, no final...wish they had a 2nd part to this class so i could take it again

Pros: Easy class
Cons: the class many times might get boring
It is hard to get a 100% percent in the exams because there are details that you might not remember, but it is easy to get over 90%. The class is easy but i dont see how anyone can benefit from that material.
