Introduction to Entrepreneurship
5*****
Pros: she is incredibly funny. You can actually pay attention in class.
Cons: tedious homework assignments
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! I never opened it and i got an A- in the class. In the beginning of the quarter, you and your group have to come up with a business that you want to create and that will be your project for the entire quarter. Every week there is an assignment based on different parts of your business like the location that you want, describing your target market, etc. So make sure you choose a business that you are actually interested in. I think shes a pretty easy teacher, she grades pretty easy too on the weekly group assignments. One of the assignments is about accounting, so GOOD LUCK! Mostly everyone in my class struggled with that. But she does take attendance. She has 4 "quizzes" consisting of 25 questions, only 3 will count for your grade. The last quiz is during finals week, if you passed all 3 quizzes, then you dont need to take the 4th one. Most of the questions come from the book website. There are practice quizzes from the website that she copies from, so make sure you are familiar with the questions and answers. She does take attendance from time to time, and she does grade on participation. She was pretty harsh for me, i got a 30 out of 40 even though i only missed one class. If you leave early she marks you off, which might explain why she took out a lot of points for me. She is a really fun teacher and it was a great experience, it made me want to actually create the business that my group worked on.

Introduction to Entrepreneurship

The class conisted of getting into a group that wanted to start a business that interested you. There are 4 written assignments due. Just do it APA style and semi-coherent and you get full credit. You have to do an entrepreneur interview which is tedious because you have to record the person and transcribe the interv. but it is super easy! There are 4 quizzes she drops the lowest and you can study for the quizzes by taking sample quizzes online. It doesnt get any easier and straight forward than that. I can honestly say that after being here for 3 yrs she is the nicest and friendliest prof. I have met at Cal Poly. Wish they were all like her. Grade Received: A-

By far one of the nicest professors I ever had in Cal Poly. If you have a question she will answer it even by e-mail. The class is simple 4 Quizzes which she drops your lowest grade. An entrepreneur Interview which is easy since she gives you the format she wants it in. Only hard thing is finding an entrepreneur. The whole class is about doing an Adventure Notebook which is a business you and your group will try to create. You turn in a total of 4 drafts which in turn ends up being your Adventure Notebook. This class is easy and intresting if you are definitly intrested in opening your own business. Grade Received: A-

Pros: Great learning experience

Easy quizzes
Cons: Deliverable for group project due almost every week
I highly recommend Sherman for 320. She has a great passion for teaching and answers any questions. Make sure you have group members who are active. It helped alot, and it made the project actually fun. You have to do an interview for this class, so make sure you start looking for a an entrepreneur asap. Otherwise, it's a great class. I wouldn't say it's difficult, just somewhat alot of work, easy work.

Introduction to Entrepreneurship

This is her first quarter teaching so we all tried to cut her some slack but this class was a waste of time. No midterms, no final, which is good but there was a whole bunch of other stuff! There was 2 ten page group papers, a presentation, an interview with an entrepreneur (tape recorded and transcribed), an adventure notebook (2 entries per week on business ideas), a couple of homework assignments, in class assignments, and a 3-4 page paper on a short book (which she later turned into EC). She doesn't specify guidelines very well on anything so most of us just sort of "winged" it. There were a few assignments that involved figuring out costs of running a business and doing cash flow analysis but I think she assumed that we knew how to do these things already because she didn't show us how to do it. As long as you turned in something you would get credit for it. I don't think I learned anything useful in this class..she doesn't lecture much..most of the time you just meet with your group and discuss your project. Take this class if you have no other options..it's not THAT bad but hopefully her teaching skills and methods will improve.

Creating a Business Plan
5*****
She is a very friendly and down to earth teacher to get along with. There is no final or tests in the class but attendance is necessary. The syllabus is homework being about 10% of your grade, attendance 10%, and 80% is a group project. If you want to get a good grade in the class, you NEED to form a group that is responsible AND are good speakers the week you form groups. The work given in the class is reasonable if you get a group where everyone does there part. The book isn't so hard to read and doing the assignments are fairly easy. It may seem intimidating the first couple of weeks but it becomes easier and she will guide you every week. There are two presentations you are being graded with your business plan, one will be the teacher and the other will be a professional business consultant. You will use software (easy to learn) that will help you present your topic. If you have a great business idea and can present to the class with your group then you should get an A. I took Sherman for family business and that was a great experience and I would definitely recommend her for this class. Grade Received: A

In this class you learn a lot but there is a lot of work. You have to attend most of her lectures, if you miss more then two classes I believe she drops you a full grade or half a grade. She gives two exams and for our class she gave us the option of a take home final case study which was pretty easy... I did it that morning and got full credit. In the beginning of the quarter you choose a group, just be sure to chose wisely because you have to work with that group throughout the quarter and most of your grade is base on that group work. Within the group you have to put together an adventure notebook. Your looking at a 4-5 page paper that is due every week divided among your group of like 4-7 people. If you pull your weight in the class you should do fine. She seems to be approachable and willing to assist students if needed. Overall her class was tolerable. Grade Received: A-

Pros: Nice

Enthusiastic

Interesting
Cons: None
Professor Sherman has been the ray of hope in my dismal academic experience at Cal Poly Pomona. If you have the chance, take her. While some of the things discussed in class may not particularly relate to your major, she presents a lot of interesting information that you can use in your life personally. I learned so much about myself in this class which I would have never expected. She seems to genuinely care about her students and the subject she teaches. I learned more from her in one quarter then I have in two years at Poly from all my other professors combined. I will warn you that there is group work in this course which can be challenging if you find yourself in a group which doesn't want to work but that i

s typical in any course.

Ms. Sherman is a great teacher. She has a lot of experience in business. She is approachable, willing to help, and very friendly. She lectures from power points that are available online. Test question only on what was covered on power points (very easy). Practice test online as well she pulls questions from them, so do them. As others mentioned the main part of your grade is the group adventure notebook. It is a lot of writing (3-4 pages a week) and research. Try to group up with people you know that will do their part. If you divide it up it isn't too bad and you can learn a lot from the process. I would highly recommend her class if you are looking to actually learn something and are not afraid to work a little. Great professor! Sometimes the work seemed overwhelming, but I learned so much and enjoyed working on the Adventure notebook. We worked in groups that were decided based on which new business venture you were interested in -- that seemed to make the group members more committed to doing their part on the project. Four "quizzes" and you could drop the lowest score - although they were pretty easy if you read the book and took the on-line practice quizzes. You also had to do an interview with an entreprenuer - tape record it and transcripe it - full credit if you did it on time. I highly recommend this professor for this class - I learned more than I have in most of my other classes - and I enjoyed learning. Grade Received: A

I'd definitely say take her. There's lots of group work, and it's fun to work with others than by yourselves. There's a group project towards the end of the quarter. Be creative. She's very nice and you get 50 pts for participation. You have to go to class, but it's easy points. It seems like there's a lot of work for this class, but the papers are only about 2 pages long. There is also extra credit, which helps a lot. Do the online quizzes, because she takes some questions exactly from them for the midterms/final. She's an easy grader. Grade Received: A-

She is a great teacher who wants her students to get involved and really try to teach them about how to start a business. There is a lot of work, but if you divide it evenly among your group members its not that bad. You are probably typing a paragraph or two a week for the adventure notebook. Just always go to class, kinda pay attention (have the time kids were texting), and do well on your projects. She is picky when it comes to works cited, so make sure you pay attention when she explains how to do it in the beginning. Grade Received: A

She is an awesome and very caring professor. She has a lot of little easy assignments and 2 exams which she may allow a page of notes. She prefers that you understand the concept of things rather than just plain memorizing definitions. Had I taken the time to do my group review paper more carefully, it would have been an easy A. The topics of the book though are redundant as it overlaps many key concepts that are covered in other marketing/business classes so it can be a bit boring. Grade Received: B+

You should definately take her class. Sherman is a very laid back but knowledgeable professor. Make sure to get good group members, however, because you will have to work with them all quater long for the business plan you create. As long as you do your stuff, you will do well in her class. Take the online quizes from the text book website too becuase she incorporates those questions in her quizes and the final! Grade Received: A

Pros: Easy course.
Cons: Group Project.
Cake walk course, "Fun" group projects. There is a leadership/team building project using 1 egg, 5 straws and some tape. Figure this out and you the only few extra credit in the class. My team's egg did not break. I think we were the only group to get extra credit. I AM A GENIUS! haha Anyways, she teaches the same as her other classes. She's really nice too, if that is what you like.

The class was not very hard, but you do have to write a few papers which are based on personal experience related to the concepts in the text. You work in groups and have to do a presentation with your group. The first two midterms seemed harder than the final which was cumulative. She really seems to like to teach and enjoys the class. I would recommend her. Grade Received: A-

Pros: Class is easy to understand without reading the book.
Cons: There are MANY group projects (papers and presentations), so hopefully you get a cooperative group.
The class was fairly interesting, but you can get the key ideas easily. If you plan to work your group ahead of time and not leave things to the last minute, then it should be a breeze. It seems like a lot of busy work, though.

Professor Sherman is a very fun teacher. she is very nice and easy to talk to and tries to make class fun. halfway through the class she'll even survey the class on how well she teaches and what she can do to better improve the class to make it more interesting. She gets the class pretty involved and overall I ended up learning a lot.

Awesome teacher, I've taken two classes with her and I'm about to take my third. This is one of the teachers that really help you in your major, the coursework is tedious and sometimes seems unbearable, but it is given in sections as to not overwhelm you. She is more than a good teacher, she's a GREAT teacher. Grade Received: A
