Write your solutions in the test booklet, not on this exam paper. Scratch work which will not be graded may be done on the backs of this test paper. Calculators may be used during the exam, but any memory capable of holding text or equations must be blank. One sheet (8.5 x 11 in) of notes may be brought to the exam. Rough (20%) accuracy is sufficient, e.g., 9.8 ~ 10 or 1r ~ 3 ~ v'fi), so the use of a calculator fihould not be necessary. Problem 1. A toy rocket is fired at time to = 0 from ground level and rises straight up. A t time tl = 1 s the rocket motor burns out and the rocket continues to rise for 2 s until t2 = 3 s.
