Midterm II Review On the syllabus, I set the second midterm for Monday, 14 February 2005. I have decided to move the exam back to Wednesday, 16 February 2005. Let me know if this causes any problems. Midterm II will cover material up through Section 3.6. In addition to topics listed on the last review sheet, you should be familiar with the following topics: 1. Derivatives of polynomials, including the constant, constant multiple, power, sum, and difference rules. You should know how to state and apply each of these rules. You should be able to differentiate polynomials as well as power functions like x1=2 and x 2. 2. Derivative of exponential functions. You should be able to differentiate functions of the form f(x) = ax, where a > 0 is a constant. You should also understand how we can define e as the number for which limh!0 eh 1h = 1. 3.
