BIO102 Unit 1 Human organization Objectives The student will learn how humans fit into the world of living things; the basic organization of the human body, including the different types of tissues, organs and organ systems of the body; and the cavities, planes and directional terms that are applied to humans. Intermediate Objectives: Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to: 1. State the major requisites of living things. 2. State and explain the levels of organization of the human body including such terms as cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and organisms. 3. Describe the process of DNA replication. 4. Name the four major types of tissues found in the human body 5. Describe epithelial tissue, give several functions and state the location of this type of tissue. 6. Discuss the three different types of epithelial tissue (squamous, cuboidal, and columnar) and state the basic shape and location of each. 7.
