CHAPTER 1 1. Identify and define the three developmental domains. Physical Development-Growth and change in a person’s body and bodily functions. Included in this developmental domain is the study of physiological and motor development as well as the impacts of illness, nutrition, and health. Cognitive Development-involves mental processes used to process information, grow in awareness, solve problems, and gain knowledge. This domain encompasses the study of brain functioning, perception, memory, learning, thinking, and language. Social-emotional Development-involves processes related to interactions with other people. Included in this domain is the study of relationships, emotions, personality, and moral development. 2.
