Attention-DeficitiHyperactivity Disorder No longer called ADD - used to be called Attention Deficit Disorder - now called ADHD and classified by subtypes o will discuss in detail in a minute Characterized by age-inappropriate inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity Problems with attention can be related to a deficit in several types of attention, like: Attentional capacity refers to the amount of information we can remember for a short amount of time Selective attention refers to our ability to concentrate on relevant stimuli while blocking out other noise - so right now some of you may be able to focus on what I'm saying while ignoring your neighbor tapping his pen Sustained attention and distractibility go hand in hand - that refers to the length of time you can focus on something without being distracted (like when studying) this seems to be the primary attention deficit for kids with ADHD particularly for repetitive, structured, and less enjoyable tasks And they tend to be mor...
