I had Professor Bulich for this class. She is a great instructor and a very nice person. As long as you come to class and are willing to do the homework, you can do well in this class. Granted, there is a lot of work to do (be forewarned), but none of it was too challenging. I learned a lot from this class, and the course material is pretty practical stuff. It was an enlightening experience overall.

Now, a bit about the structure:

3 exams

2 Group Projects

Several homework assignments

iClicker points for trying the questions (you don't have to get them right - just try and you're all set)

Participation is a decent chunk of your grade. She does a solid job of making the class as interesting as she can, so even if you aren't a big fan of public policy or law, there are likely some aspects you can find a passion for. If you don't contribute in class, you can still get your participation points via the discussion posts for the class on ANGEL.

Overall:

There is a lot of work to do for this class, but I have definitely learned a lot from it (none of the work is tedious; you learn from it). Professor Bulich is generous in terms of giving you a chance to get points for homework, participation, etc. so that the exams aren't too heavy a proportion of your grade, and you have a chance to earn some extra credit points if you do a thorough job on your homework. The exams are challenging, but not unreasonable. There's not much to dislike about the professor at all, and I've learned a lot. So, I'd recommend it. If you're not opposed to putting in some time/effort, you can do fine.

By far one of the best classes I've taken. Prof Bulich is knowledgeable and makes class interesting. She is really intelligent (she has a JD from Georgetown,) but still approachable. She is really quite nice and if for some reason you can't make it to class she is willing to work with you. However, save yourself some money and don't buy the book. I rarely used it. She has one on reserve in the library and you really only use it for the cases (which you can find online).

I also would recommend actually reading buffalo creek as it was fairly interesting. As previously mentioned, her exams are most definitely tough but she does pad your grade with homework. Though some of it can be tedious it is really for your own benefit because of the difficulty of the exams. If you are looking for a blowoff class don't take it with Bulich because she does expect you to work. If you are willing to work, it will be well worth your time.

She is an amazing professor. Hands down one of the best professors I have had at MSU. She is very understanding and keeps the lectures up to date and interesting. The class is a lot of work, but you will learn a lot.

Pros: Generous curve!

Learn about many current events and how they relate to topics covered in lecture.

Laid back environment and encourages class discussion.

Participation grade and homework cushion grade.

Thought provoking lectures.
Cons: 3 exams are extremely difficult (scenario-based questions).

Uses "2 of the above" as a choice for multiple choice on homework and exams.

Talks fast during lecture.

In class lecture slides have several more slides that are not in slides posted online.
Overall, Professor Bulich is knowledgeable. I earned a 3.5 after her generous curve after getting a 52%, 68%, and 57% on each of 3 exams. You will most likely get majority of participation and homework points if you go to class, do the homework, and post on the Angel discussion board. There is 1 group project that has a presentation (10-15 minutes), group ethics quiz, and a quiz on the novel Buffalo Creek Disaster (you must read it to do well on the quiz). Professor Bulich understands that business law is a difficult topic; however, on the first day she says she curves final grades.

All the comments below are true, she is a great professor and you definitely learn a lot more out of this class than any other GBL because there really is no flash-card like memorization tests. They are difficult, but not impossible.

The one thing that I found to be tedious was the amount of homework that you have to do. There is a ton of busy work, which yes, does help your grade, but I was very busy already this semester so it makes it tough to keep up when you are assigned multiple assignments.

It is not difficult to do well because she offers extra credit on almost everything, but prepare yourself for lots of busy work and difficult exams.

However, overall she was a great professor and very caring on how much knowledge her students retained.

Pros: She is the best professor that I ever had among my four-year life, she is very knowledgeable and nice on students, she is very considerate. Once I was excluded by group members on the group project, and my group members gave me very low score on the evaluation sheet, I printed out all the email conversation and paper works, then, explained to her that why my group members thought I was not that "active", and then, she gave me full credits on the final presentation. Besides this, what she taught was really useful in real business world.

Cons: Exams are very hard, but she gave curve on the exams which are not that bad
Overall, she is a very great professor. I would highly recommend to take her class.

She is a genuinely nice lady that loves law and loves teaching it. Her exams are quite tough (I had a 90% on one and that was the class high) but all the material you need is covered in the slides she makes. Also there are so many points available that exams are not going to kill your grade. The workload at the beginning is constant but by the end there is just a couple big assignments that are long but actually pretty interesting. She takes attendance but the lectures werent bad to sit through. And there is a decent amount of groupwork so its not just straight lecture every time.

Highly recommend this teacher, especially if you are thinking about going into law.

Prof Bulich is probably my favorite teacher and I am a senior. She knows what shes talking about and she has that confident killer instinct she's developed from actually practicing law. But she's also a very nice person. Yes, the exams are hard, but that doesnt make the class hard. You can get over 100% on your papers with not too much difficulty with a little bit of work. Her lectures are highly engaging and paying attention was easy and fun.

Pros: She is a good professor and will make you understand law. Keeps the class interesting. Not boring materials at all
Cons: However, prepare to work hard. She gives out a lot of work and it is time consuming. Her exams are hard but a lot of points awarded in the class.
I recommend Bulich if you want to learn. But prepare to work. If you don't want to work hard, then I don't think you are ready to be in a university.

Like everyone has said. She is an amazing professor, extremely well organized and professional. She keeps everything up to date and tries to related the material to us. Her lectures are interactive, allowing us to watch videos and preform class activities. There is a group project, that takes time and effort, but its great for extra points.

BEWARE: THERE IS A TON OF HOMEWORK and the TEST ARE DIFFICULT!!!

I can't comment on her class in relation to Stillwell's. What I can say, however, is she is one of the finest instructors I've ever had at State. Always professional, and always prepared. She DOES give out a lot of homework. With that said, just do it and you'll almost always get the points. They are easy points. She is great, and there's a reason why her sections ALWAYS fill.

Hands down the best professor I've ever had at MSU. Lectures are relevant and interesting, and you will learn a lot. There is a lot of homework, and the exams are really hard, but if you put effort into the homework, you will get all of the points, and extra credit, which will make up for the tough exams. Take this class with Bulich!

i just took her class this semester, and i am now a 0.0... but i have done 80% of the HW and only did bad on one exam... Honestly, her class is ignoring.. you may like it at the beginning, but soon later, you will hate it. Too many hw, about one everyday, And the HW are VERY HARD, it is like you have to read 10 pages to answer few questions... EXAMS are HARD too,,, this term finals is 80 questions and make you so exhausted.... Also there is gonna be presentation, other writing assignments, reading assignments as well.... Generally, you will have to do a lot of work in this class, it will take most of your time.....Not a EASY CLASS AT ALL. And ATTENDANCE are required too. And she is nice ONLY if you are good student. If you didnt do well then she probably wont like you.

I was so worried about having to take a Business Law class, but Heidi's class is my favorite one this semester. She really is a terrific professor. I totally agree with the positive things people have said about her so far, and honestly going to class for attendance isn't even bad in this case. Her classes are pretty interesting because you stay up to date on current events and learn A LOT of things that are good to know for business in the future. I can definitely say she is the best prof I've had at MSU. She is set apart from the other profs that I liked because she is not only nice and easy on grading, but she actually makes sure you learn important information.

Definately couldnt have picked a better prof for this class. One of the nicest and understanding teachers the business school has to offer. She cares so much about her students understanding the material which is hard to find. Exams arent hard at all, she brushes the book material and has slides online that highlight everything... study those and you should do well. Only downer is that she does have an attendance sign in that is factored into your grade, but lectures arent that boring at all. She does assign some busy work, but cares more that you attempt it for the full points. If you're going to take a teacher for this class, take her and you'll be glad.

Heidi is the best! I was originally signed up in the Fall to take it with Levy but dropped after the first class because Levy's syllabus was scary as hell. I took it in the Spring with Bulich and it was the best decision.

In all 4 years at MSU, Heidi's class was the first that I NEVER skipped. Not one class. It was always enjoyable and I loved going to it.

There are lots of assignments but if you show effort, you will always get full credit. She seemed to be all about just giving your best.

I didn't bother with the text and I did just fine. Most of the exam material comes from lecture notes and powerpoint.

Take with Bulich!!

She's really nice and approachable, and she prides herself on keeping the class up-to-date and relevant.

She has difficult exams, but recognizes it and tries to assist with a number of homework assignments that add points up quickly.

She understands her class and cares and tries to make the class as painless as possible, while still being challenging and interesting.

She drives up from Northville (an hour away) to teach, graduated from Georgetown, is a big basketball fan (so she'll move things around for sporting events and she encourages you to go to games), and worked as in-house legal counsel for a bank.
