As my freshman year is coming to a close, I can say with all confidence that Mrs. Josey is the BEST teacher I have had so far this year. She's funny, personable, NEVER boring, and is so knowledgable about what she is teaching. She is always so prepared and walks around (away from her podium) while lecturing with a power point behind her. She's not afraid to talk in depth about controversial things, and the chapters about sex and STI's seem to be her favorite. I remember on the first day of class she even told us the exact dates that we would be covering that material like it was everyone's favorite subject too! Be sure to always have your iClicker with you! She doesn't take attendence everyday, but some days she uses this to check in everyone, and you also get bonus points if you have it. Though I have never personally asked her for help, I have heard nothing but good things from other people that have. MRS. JOSEY IS THE BEST, and you won't regret taking her class. It's easy, fun, and you learn a ton of useful things about yourself. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!

Exams: The tests were very easy. All of the information you needed to know was provided for you on the study guide, very simple stuff.

Homework: We generally had little to no homework, except for the homework due for lab which was really easy and interesting. The only thing we had to do before class was print out the outlines for the chapter we were discussing that day. Also, there is a community service project due by the end of the semester, but she gives you PLENTY of time and opportunities to complete that.

Textbook: I only used the textbook for my lab homework (which was only for some assignments), and it was pretty simple.

She is the best teacher @ MTSU that I've run into so far. I had her 8 o'clock class and it's worth waking up early for. She is really funny and she's young so she basically relates to her students well. She has a funny story for anything you can possibly think of and likes to talk about her kids. Everyday I have something new that I learned in that class that I tell my roommates. She's like one of the students rather than the teacher and she encourages her students to come to her if they're having any problems. I would take her class again if she taught any other courses. Everyone should take her class!

Exams: Easy if you pay attention in class which is easy because she keeops the class interested with her stories relating to whatever topic being discussed.

Homework: printing out the notes. there's a 50 point community service project that's fairly simple (ie: donating blood/money or volunteering... pretty much anything)

Textbook: You really don't need the book because she puts all of the notes online. the lab book IS needed and a clicker so if you can find someone who was in the class already it would save you around $100 b/c it comes in a bundle.

Pros: Mrs. Josey is always willing to help and she is always open to emails and questions.
Cons: She takes attendance, which isn't terrible, but if you miss the days that she takes attendance you will lose several points.
Mrs. Josey is a great teacher! She makes the topics easy to understand, and she always makes them fun and entertaining. She is very honest and open, and gladly shares her personal experiences. If you are going to take Hlth 1530 DEFINITELY take Mrs. Josey - you will be very pleased with your decision. Exams very pretty easy as long as you take notes (or you are fairly knowledgeable about the subjects). There is one Community Service Project which is easy to complete - so it's basically a free 50 points. Lab wasn't bad, just got a little boring sometimes. Be sure you buy an iclicker because that's the only way to get credit for attendance. The textbook is unneccesary. Overall, a GREAT class!

She is the most amazing teacher I have ever had. She really relates to her students and conducts the class from the students point of view. She is so funny and there is never a dull moment in her class. I wish all my teachers were like her. I definitely recommend her for anyone interested in taking this class!!! :)

Exams: Her tests were usually about 50 questions and were really easy. She sends out a review sheet about a week before every test and if you study that and listen in class you will be fine.

Homework: The only homework was in the lab and it was usually just one workbook page and there is one community service project due by the end of the semester.

Textbook: You have to buy the textbook in order to get the workbook required for the class. You dont use your textbook at all but the workbook is a must.

Mrs. Josey is the sweetest teacher and the best teacher that I have ever had. She genuinely cares about each and every one of her students and you will learn a ton of things in her class. She makes health fun and interesting and will answer ANY question you have. She is incredibly easy to reach outside of class and will remember all of her students even though it is such a large class. You do have to go to health lab every Friday but it is easy, and you have a community service project but you can get it done easily because she tells you many opportunities from helping an organization like habitat for humanity to donating peanut butter. All you have to do to get a good grade is show up to class and listen.

Mrs. Josie genuinely cares about her students and is always open to answering questions, even after you finish the class! She is enthusiastic, fun, always has a story to tell, and is real about life. She wants to answer your questions and listen if you have comments. Atmosphere is really laid back and she keeps your attention. If you pay attention, take notes and ask questions there is no reason why you shouldn't pass with flying colors.

Exams: Easy, if you pay attention and take notes in class, a lot of times she gives you questions and answers for the exams when in class. She also curves the grades often.

Homework: You need to print off the chapter outlines before each class, they are really helpful or the exams. There is also a 50 point Community Service project but it's really easy to do.

Textbook: I used mine along with the chapter outlines, but I know a few people who never used theirs it just depends on you. You have to have the lab manual so you might as well have the textbook.

I feel that University 1010 is a little bit of a waste of time, however, it is a requirement, so I suggest taking Mrs. Josey. She is an awesome person, and is so sweet. She always made the class interesting, and she always let us out extremely early. I WOULD DEFINITELY SUGGEST TAKING THIS CLASS.

Exams: They are very easy is you just read over the information she gives you in class. She also drops the lowest test, so if you do good on the first 2, you don't have to take the third

Homework: There are three writing assigments you have to do, but believe me, they are very easy. We also had to write a journal entry every week on a topic that she specified. She offers some extra credit throughout the semester.

Textbook: The book is written for a middle schooler to read. I opened my textbook maybe twice during the whole semester just to look over a few vocabulary words, but the book store will not buy it back, so I probably wouldn't buy it! You can without a doubt get by without the book.

Josey is the best professor for this course that you could ever take. She has a good sense of humor and the atmosphere in her classroom is very laid back. But you can still learn something. She's passionate about the topics she discusses, and if you have a problem she is willing to talk to you about it. Never miss an opportunity to take her class.

Exams: Tests were all scantron, and each test had 50 qustions. She gives you a study guide before every test, and though not all of the material on the study guide is on the test, you will make a better grade if you do the study guide. If you show up to class the day she gives them back then you get extra points.

Homework: Two library assignments, a community projest that you have all semester to do, and study guides for the tests.

Textbook: The only thing you would ever use the textbook for is to help study for tests, but I don't think it would help any. Everything comes straight from her notes.

She is the best person you will ever meet! She has honestly helped me change my life just from talking to the class. She is a very passionate person and she makes it fun to learn. I wish she could teach all of my classes! She is wonderful! She is always open for you to e-mail her questions, your never afraid to talk to her, she is just great!

Exams: The test were easy if you study. They don't require much effort. She would also drop you lowest score for the test so there were about 4 or 5 test in all I think.

Homework: We did a few worksheet but they were no big deal. You also have to do some type of community service but it you do a heart walk or give blood or something your good.

Textbook: The book is really good for general information. You dont really have to use it but it is good to have just in case you want to learn a little more about a subject or when you are doing a worksheet.

She is the most amazing teacher I have ever had!! She makes class fun and relates everything to the students. She knows what we are all going through and makes jokes about all the embarrassing topics in order to make class more comfortable. If every teacher was like her then I would enjoy going to class so much more. I highly recommend taking her class because she truly cares about all of her students and tries her best to make sure that everyone succeeds not only in her class but throughout life.

Exams: There were three tests and a cumulative final. A study guide was given out before every tests, but if you attend class and pay attention they were fairly easy.

Textbook: You do not actually need the textbook itself but you have to have to lab manual and you can only purchase the lab manual with the text book. You also need a clicker.

I learned a lot and was able to pay attention because Ms. Josey is an awesome teacher. There was not one day that I didn't laugh in her class. She is very open and will talk about the funniest things to entertain her classes. She encourages you to come ask her any questions that you may have. If you want to get her talking for half of the class, just ask her about her kids. The only downside of the Health class was lab. It wasn't hard by any means, but the instructor we had was boring and obviously didn't like her job very much. She was lazy and all around an unpleasant person. It was worth it just to have Ms. Josey the rest of the week. Try to get her for your professor!!!!

Exams: The questions are really straight-forward and easy if you pay attention in class and read over the study guides. She makes them so that they are almost impossible to fail.

Homework: We were required to do a 50 point service project once during the semester. It could be something like donating blood or money, participating in the toy drive, etc... It was an easy 50 points. She also gives you a lot of chances for extra credit, which you shouldn't need. In lab there were assignments once a week that were basically busy work.

Textbook: I didn't open the textbook once during the whole semester, but you do need to purchase a clicker at the beginning of the class.

Pros: Such a great professor. Could not have asked for a better class to be in my first semester of school. She genuinely wants the class to know her & her story of how she got to where she was today. I loved her class and even though it's a huge one, she finds a way to make it feel like you know her by the end of the semester. She gives three tests and drops one of them and the final was a breeze. Attendance is not necessary but i highly recommend going just for your own benefit and she puts little things that she does in class on tests just to see who pays attention during lecture. I loved her and recommend her to anyone! I really felt like I learned more in her class about life than any other class.
Cons: Lab was boring, but I loved my lab instructor and they really do their best to get you out of their as fast as possible. Definitely go to lab because it counts towards final grade and could really help if you do bad on a test. She gives so much extra credit!

-I loved Mrs. Josey! She was so much fun. She let's the class get involved in the lectures, and sometimes we move off onto other tangents. I definitely recommend taking her. Yes, there is work to do, and tests to study for, but you can have a ton of f

Exams: -If you have the notes to study and you pay attention in class, you can do well. I had the book, so I also read the chapters and did the practice tests on the cd rom. She gives four tests, including the final exam, but she drops your lowest grade. So,

Homework: -Sometimes you will have a diagram to fill out, a video to watch and write a review on, library assignments (3; which require a two page summary and opinion of an article from a medical journal), and a community service project. It sounds like a lot, but

Textbook: -You can choose whether or not you wish to use the book. You can still get a good grade in the class if you don't have the book.

Pros: no cons best professor ever
Best teacher ever. She don't take attendance in lecture but lab she does. Don't be late or absent to labs but lecture you can except test day she might get mad at the stragglers.Extra credit given all the time do not take it for granted. She gives something called "rainy day points" because on rainy days students do not like to attend classes so she gives random extra credit.Garvita Thareja was my lab instructor very easy an lenient. Even though Josey is nice, easy, and fun she teaches in a way to relate to everyone.Community service is also a MUST it is very easy, i donated clothes to goodwill and recieved my credit so please do it. Tests are easy if you study and use her study guide which means come to class everyday and take good notes and you will have all the answers. Tests may also have random questions like what happen in class so she would know who actually attends lectures.

She is an awsome teacher. The class was a relaxing class that i loved going too. It also dosen't hurt that she is easy on the eyes which is one main reason i kept going to class. She has tons of stories which makes the class fun. You can discuss stuff with her she is just like one of us and understands that you have otehr stuff going on. Ask her about her kids and she can talk all calss on them. Also ask her about the cool cats at Intramurals she can talk about those guys for days. Mrs. Josey is a great teacher you will have tons of fun and get a good a grade if you just but some effort into the class. Mrs. Joesy RULES!!!

Exams: EVERY THING WAS GRADED EASILY AND SHE GAVE YOU TIME TO TURN THEM IN.

Homework: Two libaray assingments. Which i did the night before and got A's on them they are really easy.

Pros: Mrs. Josey was probably the coolest teacher I've had in my two years at MTSU. She was awesome. Being in her class was like being at a comedy show. But don't let that make you think that she doesn't teach. You does teach good information in a very well outline form. You have to do a community project. You can give blood, a prom dress, and several other things. I just went to the prom drive and helped set up for 30 mins and I had my points just like that.
Cons: Only con is she tells a lot of stories and gets off topic a little, but that's not too bad of a con.
If you are needing to take Health and Wellness, then Mrs. Josey is the way to go!! Absolutely loved her. You don't need the book for this class!!!!!!!!! DON"T BUY IT!!!! she sends you the notes before class and you just bring them to class and fill them out!.
