PHIL 1320
ETHICS & SOCIETY
5*****
Pros: Great professor, really interesting discussions. Doesn't take attendance for lecture although if you don't want to get lost you better show up. There is attendance for lecture, but extra credit if you're able to make all of them. He wants to get to know you and will take time to talk about any questions. 8 quizzes, 3 lowest get dropped... homework is rare. Lot's of extra credit but requires a lot of time.
Cons: Exam essays are graded by TA grad students for the most part.. so you better hope you get a good one. I recommend Searce.
One of the grades require that you attend any philosophical event (Philosophy Dialogue Session). You can attend one hour session and a write a 1 page paper... or you can attend 9 and write 9 papers for a lot of extra credit.

Pros: He really enjoys teaching philosophy

Offers a lot of extra credit and is understanding

Cons: The extra credit is a lot of work

Quizzes are challenging
Its annoying to be in this clas when you are not a philosophy major, but i recommend taking him if you don't mind putting in effort to get an A. Everyone i knew in the class got an A if they did at-least average on exams quizzes and all the extra credit

his lecture is pretty boring. and there are a ton of quizzes but the quizzes are usually pretty easy, just keep up with the reading. he offers so much extra credit, so definitely do it all because it's not too difficult and will increase your grade a lot. the tests are usually essay and multiple choice. but you never have to write the essays in class and the topics are not too hard.
