This is a very easy class, currently power points are posted online, weekly assignments on huskyct which are graded for effort, you get a study guide for every exam. Very easy, especially if you have taken econ and geog. before, this is just a combo of both. Robert, speaks in a monotone voice and for the most part just reads off the slides. Worth the GPA boost.

This is the only evaluation you'll have to read...DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS...Robert Cromley is a terrible professor...every week there will be a 200 word typed assignment...there are three exams and a final, which consist of 70-80 multiple choice questions...this class is pointless because you need to memorize worthless facts that you'll simply forget the day after the test...a typical test question for cromley would be "Which Southeast Asian country is a leading world producer of coffee?" In addition to ridiculous questions, there are map terms you must memorize...there are typically 3 maps per test, which adds to a total of over 100 terms...nevertheless its not a question of effort, Cromley is a poor excuse for a professor...he's mean, unwilling to help students, and has a terrible sense of humor...I got an A in this class but believe me I worked for it...if you want an easy gen-ed this is definetely not the class for you..furthermore, I'd avoid Dr. Cromley at all costs if you can

I give him credit for one thing: He has been willing to help... to an extent. Other than that, he acts like a ****. He seems to have little consideration for people. Lecture notes are way too lengthy. A good professor would put "what we need to know" on the Powerpoint and then use the lecture to go into detail. Instead, Cromley will tell us what we need to know 5 seconds before he goes to the next slide. He does not understand the concept that we cannot read through an entire slide and determine what's important AND listen to the lecture at the same time.

Overall, this guy is just absurdly rediculous. I don't mind that his tests are a bit challenging or that I have to earn my grade. (No curve) However, I would rather not have had to invest in a tape recorder just so I can make sure I didn't miss anything.

He is the single worst teacher I've ever had. He crams way too much information into everyone of his lectures and then tests you on useless trivia. The tests are impossible. The material on the tests is told to you in lecture while you are copying useless crap from his power points so its hard to get all his useless facts down. On top of that he is one of the biggest pricks I've ever met and I would like nothing better than to see him get kicked in the balls. He has the worst sense of humor ever too! You know you suck when roughly 3/5's of your class fails their first exam and he refuses to curve. The average grade for the first exam was something ridiculously low like a 45. Bottom line is that he one of the biggest a$$holes I've ever come across and can't not emphasize the point enough for you to not take his class or if you do get stuck there to either switch to a different teacher or completely drop the class all together and take it with a different teacher next semester.

Cromley is quite possibly the most boring teacher I've ever had, and if you don't like Geography, then this class is going to SUCK for you. You spend the entire class frantically scribbling down notes and you usually leave class with about 6-7 full pages of notes-and he DOES NOT SLOW DOWN because he's a prick...even so, you should be able to pull out a decent grade. The tests seem a little bit tough at first, but if you study the maps pretty well, study the underlined parts of those damn 30 line power point slides, and LEARN THE ANSWERS TO THE STUDY GUIDE QUESTIONS you'll do alright. The TAs are pretty cool and they'll give you the answers to the study guide questions flat out so make sure to go to the exam review session. I wasn't aware of this until too late, but I hear he uses the same exams every time, so if you can find someone who took the class before I'd do it..if you do all of that, you should be able to pull out at least a B.

Cromley is without a doubt the worst professor I have had in three years of college education. Not only does his "teaching" consist of the mere reading aloud of a power-point presentation that is projected on the screen behind him, but it meets three days a week, every week, for an entire semester. This lends the course to an influx of trivial and minutely important factoids that number in the THOUSANDS. Chances are that on the final he will ask questions in regards to THE MOST OBSCURE pieces of information that were mentioned throughout the entire semester. I cannot stress enough what a jerk this guy is. The audacity to create such a test for his freshman level intro-ductory course is beyond me.

I enjoyed taking Geog 160 with Cromley, it is not a bad class at all. The exercises are a guarenteed 12.5 out of 12.5 points as long as you meet the length and map requirements. You take notes straight from the Powerpoint for the entire lecture so it is a bit tedious, and yes, you need to memorize them in order to ensure good grades on the exams. Also, make sure you memorize the answers to the questions on the tops of the lecture note print outs, those questions are on the exams and the T.A.'s will give you the answers to them during the review sessions. He gives 3 exams and then the final. As far as studying goes, I studied around 3 hours or so for each exam, a little more for the final and got an A in the class. I would tell anyone to take this class as long has they are willing to put a little bit of effort.

i dont want people to think that i am being bitter about this class because that is honestly not at all it. im doing absolutely horrible in the class and i have never studied so hard in my life for any other class. its pointless to even try because unless you are a natural born genius who can remember everything written on the 108 slides of one single module when there are at least three on a test you will probably not do so well. unless you are a geography wizz i would HIGHLY SUGGEST NOT taking this class. i know, i know, for a lot of people it is a requirement but id stay stick to Anthro instead. its a much better option.

He is a horrible professor. One of the things i had the biggest problem with was that 150 students out of 250 failed his first midterm. The highest greade was a 77.3 and he did not curve at all. He clearly knows a lot about his subject, but thats about it. The only other good thing i will give him credit for is that his lectures are based on well organized and detailed slides. The problem is that THERE IS REALLY TOO MUCH INFORMATION and he expects you to know everything for exams. The exams are very diffiicult. The TA's are complete morons - i knew more than one of them!

There are a lot of bad grades for this guy but I just finished the class and I can honestly say that you can get a 65 on every test and the final and still get a C. The class is easy for the fact that you only have to go Monday and Wednesday. If you didn't wanna go Wednesday just show up at the end of class and hand in your weekly assignment. Assignments (monday), you only need to do 10 out of 14, and class participation (wednesday), you only need to do 10 out of 14 as well. If you do 10 for both you have 140 out of the 500 class points already toward your grade. Powerpoints are so boring to read but if you study the underlined parts and study the maps real well, you will do good enough on the tests, and a little extra effort will get you an A. All in all, not a great professor but I wouldn't call it a hard class.

Blue slides are so awesome. I love the color blue, so it is aesthetically pleasing to just go to one of his classes and stare at all of the info going by. Not to mention the professor is an absolute comedian up there. The other day he told a joke about oil drilling that was a riot. I wish I could fail this class just to take it again next semester. I love doing the exercises for 12.5 points apiece towards your 500 total. Do study for these exams because they are difficult unless you study a min of 5 hours.

there is no point whatsoever to even go to this class, all the slides are posted online and he reads word for word from them. I never once even opened my book. Sitting through the class is complete torture, he has no sense of humor and does not seem to care at all for the students. He runs through a million slides usually made up of just words and does not slow down. His tests have a ton of material on them and the questions all seem to be little facts. The average grade for the first exam was in the 40s and the second exam average was only slightly higher.

if you have to take this class reallllyy try to take it with another professor.

Lets just say when a professor tells you he's sorry the world is so big when you ask him how you can simplify the fifty pages of notes you have to memorize for his first exam he's not any good at his job. His lectures are boring but if you want a shot at knowing all the material from his long and tedious powerpoint presentations you need to show up, unless you are buddies with the ta's because they have copies of all the notes and will let you copy them if you go to them during office hours. It is possible to do okay if you spend an enormous amount of time reading and rereading the hundreds of pages of notes. And do not avoid the study questions...he takes them word for word from the notes...probably the only positive thing he did during the whole semester...avoid him if you can otherwise good luck beating his system.

I came in to this class with high hopes and was excited for Geography 104 but it was the biggest waste of time. I attended every class, but still did not retain anything through his horrendous monotone voice. He showed no enthusiasm for our class nor did he properly explain concepts on the tests. This is a do it yourself class, you really have to teach yourself everything, but you do have to attend class for his stupid two question quizzes. Dr. Cromley needs to brush up on his teaching skills, for he is a grave disappointment

Oh my gosh why is it when my friend took this class they only had 4 assignments for the whole semester which were on countries. When I get to the class we have 10 essays with a very unstructured schedule and were on concepts we didn't even cover until after the essay was due. Too much information for each test. He says you don't need to know numbers but then puts them on the test. I went into the class excited about geography but now I hate it. Even if I had endless time to memorize every I little detail I would probably still only end up with a B-. If you want a class where you actually learn and not memorize then take a new class.

Only take this if you have an undying love of geography and are unperturbed by a professor who not only has the outlines (which you already have) filled out up on the screen, but feels it's necessary to read them to college students. Has poor control of the class, and if he has a sense of humor, he hides it during class. For an interesting subject, it's a surprisingly boring class. Avoid this sleeper if possible.

this guy looks like a retarded drew carey. he has the worst sense of humor ever and may be one of the most boring teachers ive ever had but his class is not hard by any means. dont buy a book for his class because you dont have to read it. he puts an outline of the lectures online and you only need to fill it in. every question on his tests are from the lecture. if you dont go to lectures youll be screwed. i got a B in his class doing no work and only studying for like two nights before his tests. like i said, not hard but real boring. if you can handle a boring professor i would definately recomend this class

Geog 104 - Dr. Cromley's lectures are extremely boring. He just reads right off the screen and when he tries to not read off the screen he studders and seems to not know what he's talking about. Seems like he made these powerpoint slides 5 years ago. He has attendance quizzes every class so students come to class. Notes are online which is nice, but his tests are very detailed and his questions are tricky and wordy.
